Must gets with the PC?

I'll be getting a PC soon and was wondering what the "must haves" are. Ill starting my machine polishing endeavor with the Pro 1Z polishes. I was thinking Lo Pro 6in and 4in pads orange and white? Anything else? Backing plates, etc? Pad cleaner/conditioner, or can I do that with stuff I already might have?

I use a lot of XMT pad cleaner and work it in with the pad brush. You'll probably need a good heavy extension cord. Backing plates for sure if you're going with those pads.
 
White pads of your choice
Orange pads of your choice
Gray pad of your choice
One of the powdered pad cleaners

I personally like the 5.5" pads alot in white and orange, but the CCS pads are nice too.

The Xmt pad cleaner and XMT conditioner are not necessary, but are nice to have, you can try to get them in with a package.

:iagree: Personally I like the 5" to 5.5" pads a lot better for the PC. Anything bigger just seems too cumbersome now. The 4" pads are also a good idea.
 
Get at least a pair of the 5.5" low profile orange pads, they have a nice cut. The 4" pads are great too. I don't use the conditioner nor cleaner since I wash my pads by hand with a brush, water and degreaser.
 
Another vote for 5 or 5.5" pads...

I'm another that does not use a cleaner that is specified for pads..I use an APC and laundry det with no perfume/dyes etc...

I would also suggest the brush attachments for your PC to clean upholstery.

Start looking for something to put it in as well (case/bag etc)

Use a BP that does not go to the edge of the pad in order to give yourself some “safety”.

I would even get a replacement wrench since if you loose yours you may be in a bind of you have a job coming up…I was in this position and had to make an emergency run to a bicycle shop for a cone wrench (worked great btw)

I think that Im gonna go with the Lo-Pro's not sure what brand they are. Im just going to get white and orange for now. I cant decide if I should get a pad brush, cleaner and conditioner...
 
I have the Poorboys kit and it's now very much overlooked, which is a shame, because they make some very nice products.

Skip the large pads, stick with 5.5" and below. Any larger and the little PC cannot handle it.
 
I ended up getting the $170 kit that comes with 4 orange and 2 white 5.5 low-pro pads and 5in BP. I already had the 1Z fine polish and got the intensive paste for correction.

I hope I get it by the weekend, since Im in Orlando and AG is in south FL
 
SO, I am hoping to try out the PC this weekend. Any tips?
I just read a thread that said to clean the pad after every product application. Does that mean after every time it is used, or after every time you put product on the pad? It would seem weird to do the second, since from what I heard the pads should be soaked to be cleaned (I plan on using dawn), or do they mean with a brush (Im gonna use a toothbrush lol)

Also, my GTO has a lot of 'creases' and curves, so whats the best way to go about correcting these parts? Also, is it fine to "tilt" the pad for a-pillars and around door handles?

When I'm done with the detail, I clean the pads. During the detail, I use a nail brush to clean my pads. Toothbrush should be fine but I would use a brand new one. You might as well get a nail brush since it's bigger :). I also don't even prime the pad with a spray, I just use the product itself only. You shouldn't tilt the PC.. I read somewhere it's not good for your pads. Plus you don't wanna risk hitting anything with your backing plate :o.
