My 97 Mustang GT metallic red in color had a clear plastic film on the front most edge which over time cracked and discolored. I carefully removed it and now there is a distinct color shade difference. I had been told the only way to correct this is to wet sand and rub it out. Would the Nanoskin Medium Mitt and the associated liquid clay products correct this or am I doomed to wet sanding.

The mitt will not correct that. I would polish the entire hood and see if that brings the original color of the hood back to match the section that had been protected from uv rays by the film. It may not totally match but might look much better.

My brother has a Cobra from that era. His car has several panels that are different shades. I know Ford's red paint on those cars is notorious for fading, oxidizing, etc. The hood, bumpers, and panels around the taillights seem to be especially problematic.
