Mustang vs challenger

I agree. Out of the three mustang camaro and challenger. The challenger damn near is the same car of the 70s.

After being in both a Z28 and ZL1, I'd rather have the ZL1 because I like to drive my cars comfortably off the track too.

I'm surprised dodge hasn't come out with a convertible yet. I've seen the aftermarket and it looks awesome

I am not really a fan of American cars BUT I do like the look of the challenger IF it's the right one. "Muscle" car shouldn't have thin tires and 6 cylinders. I saw a blacked out one, lowered, with the scoop on the hood and thought it looked pretty mean.

But if you are planning on tracking and those are the choices I would go Mustang.

Waiting for the Mustang II to come back. Then I'm in.

Challenger, mustang, or camaro. My decision would be based on what I want the car to do. Dodge killed it with the Hellcat, period. The car is a monster and like stated earlier, you can put people in the back somewhat comfortably. Love to see what it would run with a pair of street slicks on it. I'm sure the GT350 is a great car also, but in a different way. As for the camaro, super nice car but it doesn't "Wow" me like the other 2. But if I was in the market for a car, which I'm not, I would choose the challenger. Long live the AMERICAN MUSCLE CAR

Challenger R/T with the Scat pack gets you the 6.4 HEMI for a good price. I bought Camaro SS with 1LE package great car sounds amazing with the dual mode exhaust but today I would buy the Challenger scat pack R/T. Next year may be the Mustang GT350 if it isn't priced where I think it will be. I love a nice car but 40-45k is top of the mark for me. breaking 50K just seems like wasting money. realy 25-30K can get you 90 percent of the car that you would spend 60K on. Laws of diminishing returns.
This is my car only bought it because I like the whole Package SS 1LE Triple Black.

I've owned 7 Mustangs through the years, & currently a GT500. No point in me going any further as to what I prefer. I used to detail a new Camaro for a neighbor of mine. Interior was very cheap looking, & I bumped my head every time I got in & out of it. He now owns a Challenger & I recently detailed it. I was amazed at just how big it is. If that Hellcat really turns 11's in the quarter, I'll tip my cap to Mopar cause that car is a boat!

Not a current car but the Grand Nationals of 1986-87 had a 6 cylinder and thin tires and it was every bit a muscle car in the true sense of the word;)

Then the Challenger should be right up your alley:
The completion of an entire buy-out process occurred (August 2014)...whereas:
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, NV was created, with the former Chrysler Group, LLC remaining as a subsidiary.

My Wife is so proud to now be the owner of a Fiat/Jeep!! :xyxthumbs:

Especially, the GNX's...not your ordinary Grand National. :dblthumb2:

Same thing with the older muscle Buick GS's or Grand Sports...the GSX's with 455 stage II or stage III's packages were the ones to own, and of course, the most rare.

As far as Mustang's vs. Challengers...

A guy at work has a black 6.4l Challenger. Looks real mean until I glance at those narrow tires they put on it. It needs a wider looking stance in my opinion to do it real justice.

Bob.... And did you see how many hours and DOLLARS they put into that Riddler quality car? WHEW! Something that $200,000 can't buy is EXACTLY my favorite one. :D

Given 50K I'd probably buy the Camaro, just like the GM cars. That being said; I like the body on the Mustang better. Although not at all a big fan of the interior (but haven't seen the 2015 version). Not totally in love with the Camaro interior either, but surely better (imo) than the Mustang. Still like the low and curvy lines of the Mustang though, and it's EASILY the slickest one of the three. (Probably has half the air moving underneath as well.)

Now the Challenger *can* be a nice ride. But.... being built on the Charger platform just makes it huge. Something nostalgic though about those four famed letters "HEMI". :) It does have a nice overall look to it though, (both outside and in). The guy I did the black Viper for a few weeks back just got a Hellcat, so that'll be interesting once I get my hands on it. ;) OTOH, he is on his SECOND C7 this year, (has a 2012 Z06) as well as a 2012 (or 13 perhaps) GT500 (in dark blue metallic). THAT car is freaking QUICK!

I'll have to really keep dreaming for something like this. I'm sure this is 50k on top of the 40 to 50k for the other ones

Whether you get the Challenger or Mustang (or Camaro) either way you have great taste in cars!! Detroit Muscle Rocks!! Can't say much for Detroit (the city)...LOL. Either choice you will be very happy.

I have been a Mustang guy since 1968 (my 1st ride in one). That being said...I am so glad there was competition from MOPAR, CHEVY & FORD. I respect them all and I would not have such a great car (2013 Mustang GT/Track Pack) if it wasn't for the Challenger or Camaro. I am a Ford guy and always will be. But do I respect the competition? You betcha!

My point being....you will be very happy with either one!! I say go for the one that makes you excited or makes your heartbeat skip a beat! The Mustang has done that for me since 1968!

Hey Hoyt, just wanna let you know there were no "production" Stage II's and never heard of a Stage III. I know the Stage II were "over the counter" upgrades and its too bad they didn't do that but its was too late as 70' was the beginning of the end for the era, really too bad it didn't go another 5 yrs, would've been awesome! That said, we have the current muscle era and it just crushes the old cars performance, just wish the new cars weren't so damn large:rolleyes:

This new GT350 apparently has a 8300 rpm redline, WOW:eek:

Nice looking 5th gen. I think the 1LE is the best bang for the buck IMO as far as performance is concerned.

While admittedly I have no current proof to back it up, while in high school (over 25 years ago) I once had a magazine with an article on the super rare GSX's stages II and III and a calender showing yellow GSX's stage II and III cars. I kept that magazine and the calender for approximately 10-15yrs. as I liked these cars much better than the Chevelles of the same time period that looked very similar. While they might not have been produced 'daily', as in production cars, I vividly remember seeing GSX and the respective 'stage' emblems on the dash of cars in the photo's as well as remember the decals on the engines, therefore I believed them to be factory at that time. Indeed, that particular article was shedding the light on 'those rare cars' to be, indeed, factory, but that may have not been the case.

I can't say positively that the 'upgrades' were not OTC, but as best as I can recall these were factory cars. What makes me think these were factory was that I vividly recall the article speaking of the stage II's and especially the stage III's, that the hp ratings for these particular Buick's were some of, if not the most, underated hp'd engines of an era...and the article was making comparisons to the 427 Fords and the 426 Hemi's of the former period.

Whether the article was bogus or not, I cannot say. I'm just telling you what I recall, and even that could be a bit foggy admittedly. (I swear up and down I never moved the tv remote too, but the wife says otherwise. LOL!)

I'm not a muscle car guru...far from it. However, I do love old school Detroit Muscle. That muscle ended shortly before I was born.

I was undecided between the two when I bought my Challenger. I test drove both very hard. Loved them both. Bottom line was Ford dealerships (I checked out 3 different dealerships)

couldn't make the numbers work for the model I wanted and what I could afford. Got lucky and pulled a greenhorn Dodge sales lady and received a great price! So bottom line for me was what

was going to be cheaper with comparable models. Very happy with my Challenger and I'm sure I would say the same thing if I had the Mustang:dblthumb2:
