not done yet as i am waiting to do the final stages in the morning when the sun is out...but here are some teaser pics..
my claybar after just ONE driver's side fender...
the floor mats.....
the trunk scratches you can see them ALL over the left side of the trunk.....
the rest of the car looks like a brillo pad washed it last...its been in a fender bender or two so it has a couple dents and major scratches that i won't be able to remove...should be fun....:righton: doing this car as a favor for a friend...normally i would turn down doing this car as i pretty much stick to maintaining newer cars because I only do detailing now in my spare time...but anything for a friend...
UPDATE: Way too many hours later the car is done...sorry for the lighting...but on to the pics
The carpet came out good...not great but this car is an '02 and has never seen the interior cleaned....303 was my best friend for the dash and other vinyl..how I cleaned the carpet...thats my secret
The hood...i actually don't really have to many before pics because the thing was just a nightmare and I didn't want to embarass the owner while they were there...
not the best lighting but the reflection speaks for itself...my claybar is toast by the way detailing this car...I actually washed this car three times before I began claybaring...I gotta say I thought the Meg's smooth piant surface bar was crud...but it came out like a champ on this car....SSR 2.5 and an orange pad or two or three or five brought back most of the paint...ssr1 with a white pad finished the job...
My go to BLUE!!!! This stuff is great...and smells like bubblegum...gave a deep warm shine to the car....
The roof.....
The boot....what scratches?
The Dog...jut gave me the "what the hell are you doing working on that car so much and not playing with me" look
Overall process in a nutshell
Step one : Shudder at the car...
Step two: Megs NXT Wash...three washes with the foam gun...the last wash with the two bucket method...tried changing things up to see if i could get the car any cleaner...
Step Three: Ruin my clay bar...Megs Smooth Car Finish claybar kit...I like the MF it came with...felt similar to Cobra JR.
Step Four: Watch the dog eat the claybar...
Step Five: Blue tape the entire car and begin the polishing nightmare....SSR 2.5 with orange pad...SSR 1 with white pad..had to work really slow..more swirls than I have ever seen that were deep into the clear coat...
Step Six: Drink a beer
Step Seven: First put down a layer of NXT liquid wax just to make the Natty Blue Application easier...I just like to use this stuff as a base coat now because it is a VERY fast wipe on wipe of process and makes putting on a good LSP much easier....and it has a descent shine just no depth...have it on my current car and it worked out great so I am sticking with it...
Step Eight: Interior...303..and a pharmacy of cleaners to get the floormats clean....I love using 303 on big dashes...looks impressive and no streaks...I think my vaccum hates me...filled the entire canister....
Step Nine: Do a once over with QD..not sold here so I won't mention the name...
Step Ten: Forgot all about the tires so I just shined them up and used a bucket to scrub out the wheel wells...dressed the wells and snapped some pics....
