My Black Jeep Wrangler.. When I first started detailing

Gorgeous Jeep! :props:

This is a perfect example of how nice a car or truck can look using over the counter products.....:props:

I also have a 2013 Jeep Sahara in black....:dblthumb2:

I love the wheels and tires, and they really add a nice look to its stance. Did you install a list kit or is it stock?

Thanks Bobby! You know not sure why but I took you as a Jeep Guy before ever posting you had a jeep.

Yeah Honestly for OTC products I was impressed with the look and receive plenty of compliments on how clean the jeep is.

The black rings on the classic lock rims were polished as well.. I actually just added plasti dip to them.. wiped clean with rubbing alcohol then 3 coatings 30 min apart.

lift and wheels as follows

2.5" Zone lift and 35x12.50r17 Mickey Thompson Baja Atz tires with 17" Mickey Thompson Classic Lock rims

on the new model JK's you can actually fit 35's under them stock.. but I would do 33's

but a simple 2.5 lift clears 35's easy and the ride was honestly better than stock after the lift and tires.. cornered better as well.

MT Baja ATZ tires in my opinion are some of the quietest and smoothest tires you can buy..

but not cheap by any means at about 350 each

Nice looking Jeep. I bet that spiderweb shade comes in handy down there in the summer. Sure did last summer here in California.

Thanks

Spiderweb shades are must have as you know..

I ran the dirtydog4x4 full 1 pc on top first but when I decided to purchase the extended cage safari straps I sold the dd and went with spiderweb shade.. It's a life saver during the summer.. but nice light shining through unlike a bikini top that lets no light in

You have a nice looking rig as well.

I have a soft spot for all black Jeeps!!

Tough call.. The older jeeps are sweet! if you can turn wrenches at all the older ones are a breeze to maintain yourself. On the other hand The JK's are more refined on the road less prone to break down but not as easy to work on..

Honestly unless you need 4 doors I would opt for 2 doors.. especially if this is going to be an extra vehicle. I can say that the rear seats were rarely used by friends.. usually just 1 friend or the fiance in the front seat and that was it... As sick as the 4 doors look I'd say save some coin and go with a 2 door JK or even the older YJ which you can save quite a bit of money on..

Either way you will come out with a awesome jeep.

what color you looking to get?

Thanks man! Appreciate it :xyxthumbs:

You prove some really good points man. I think the old school yJ is it for me for now. I plan to get the newer wrangler one day tho. I've always had a fascination with jeeps.

As for color, if the paint is in good shape I'm going to clean it ups I'm not really going for a certain color. Just a good price, with the modifactions I want.

If push comes to shove, I'm going to get one without any options
(lift kit and rims/tires) and mod it my self.

Trying to find one without rust with it being old is tough.
Craigslist is only so helpful with finding older cars.

Whas the spider web top used for ?

Again, your Jeep rocks!! :props:

I've always liked Jeeps but for some reason just never hooked up with one... Years ago a friend had a CJ5 and we had a ball going off road.

CJ bodies back then rotted out badly and very quickly. Carl replaced the badly rusted steel body with a one piece fiberglass tub. Once it was road ready he drove it over to my shop and I painted it....Close to the Atomic orange on today's Corvettes!! :coolgleam:

Today any mod, after market or tires for that matter are so expensive. I had to replace the tires on my Z06 Corvette and they cost about $350 each....I thought I was going to choke!!

My Sahara, and my only regret is not buying one sooner....I love it!! :props:

Killer jeep bobby.

That is one proper Jeep, J. :props:

As far as I can remember, my first automobile ride was on a Jeep. I was just a wee bit lad then, 4/5 at the time. This was in Ubon, Thailand (my father was stationed there). Always have a soft spot for 'em.

Ah, Jeeps. My first one was a 53 Willys M38A1 that I promptly and stupidly put a Chevy 350 in. I learned a lot about auto mechanics, particularly transmission and drive line work. Amazing I made it to 17! Years later, I bought a 81 CJ7 that I'd did a body off restoration on. I sold my wife on this idea as cheap hobby vehicle and then spent about 10 gr on stainless hardware, rebuilt engine, sprayed in bed liner etc.I kept it as close to stock appearing as possible and painted it flame red Imron. It had a 3" lift and rode like a buckboard. The lack of effective A/C and blood in the urine forced a return to German iron...

Yours looks really sweet with the tasteful mods. I have tried CarPro pearl at 1/1 and it looks great on my son's Tacoma tires. Nice and even with good longevity.

It's shade mesh that gets strapped to the rollbars. Knocks out most of the UV and keeps the temps down but you still get some open air feel.

Note this is not my image, it's from their site. I don't seem to have a good picture of it on my Jeep from last season...

Thanks :) It's not actually black though. It's the 2012 Black Forest Green color. When the light hits it right, the green comes out. Here's a shot from last summer after a full polish, seal, wax.

Sorry for the late reply.... WOW! that color is stunning

I bet that's alot of fun to bring out the metallic flake in that paint!

show off. j/k, love that jeep. regret ever selling mine

I regret selling mine too... :awman:

That's one heck of a nice jeep. You can see my 2002 in my profile picture... rather, what used to be mine. :'(. I sold it to a close friend after gas got too expensive and I regret it every day! Luckily though, I get to see it often and he takes decent care of it. Sometimes seeing it so often is a good thing, other times it's bad because it makes the longing for a jeep worse. lol

It was a really well kept TJ with a modest lift and modest all-terrain tires. If you've ever shopped at Quadratec, (I'm sure you have) I actually won a full set of Bushwacker pocket-style fenders at one of their annual jeep shows. My profile picture is before those flares though, I'll have to find a picture of them to upload sometime. Ohhhh the memories...

One day I'll have another, I know this in my soul. Maybe even a 4 door! :xyxthumbs:

EDIT: I found a picture with the fender flares that I won. It was from a CG Blacklight review I did before I sold the jeep. =O The memories!

Looks awesome ^.
How did you maintain the black plastic ?

I normally used Meguiar's ultimate trim detailer on the fenders and rocker panels. That tends to give trim a slightly glossy look, but the trim on my jeep was textured so it came out flat. Other than that, I sometimes used Poorboys world natural look dressing but didn't really like the results. Granted, that wasn't an ideal product for exterior trim though.

It did the job. You kept it in great shape.
What where the pros n cons of having a tj ?
