Well guys here's my brother's BMW E-46 M3 I did a few weeks ago.
I was really excited to do his car. I really love the color and the car. I was already imagining the look of the car finished and sealed before I even started lol
Well how to start this. His car was very far from being a great show room looking car. It had so many swirls, scratches, contaminants and clear coat failure that it was at that level of having the car re-sprayed. It was in bad shape and lets stay at that.
I felt great tackling his car and didn't doubt I couldn't get it in great shape. I have to thank Kevin (hateswirls) for showing me how to use the products and my cyclo and teaching me the technique. He taught me real well and learned a lot.
Well the products I used were:
BF wet diamond conditioning shampoo
BF poly clay bar
BF clay lubricant
WGUC
BF scratch resistant clear finishing polish
BFBI sealant wax
I used my Cyclo model 5-pro
well Friday, before I started detailing my wheels, I washed the car and clayed it. I think I spent about 4 hours claying his car. I took off so much crud on his car that I was about to feel sick. I went over an area and went over it and over it till I got everything off it. well almost everything. Yea you all say that I spent too much time just claying it, but I wanted it to be perfect before I started compounding it.
Well Saturday, after I finished my wheels, I did a rinse less wash to take off the light dust off the car that got on the car over night. Well made a test spot and stated with the WGUC with an orange pad and went at it. Did my section passes and wiped it off. took a look at the paint and still saw a bunch of scratches on it. But the swirls were gone. So got out my yellow pads and went over it again. Wiped it off and could barely see the scratches. Now I was very excited and my brother who was standing beside me was shocked. He got extremely excited and wanted to get the whole car done asap lol
Well I did half of the trunk and my brother wanted to give it a try. I showed him how to use the Cyclo and he went at it. He did really well but he had the same problem I had when I first tried it. he was worried about burning through the pain. But I made him understand that it is impossible.
I started his car at about 5 PM and stopped at about 11PM. I only got the trunk and right side of the car done. it took me many passes to do a section to try to get all the scratches out. the swirls came out fairly easily but those damn scratches were hard. I put in a lot of work on his trunk and side.
Sunday morning I started at 10 am and worked till 9pm. After getting the roof and left side done I decided to give the hood a shot to see how and if I could get rid of the clear coat failure. The hood was the worst part of the car and it really was in need of a re-spray. But after 5 hours of working on just the hood I finally got the hood in the best shape it could get. was I shocked to see it all gone. My brother was very excited about that.
Well then went to polishing the car. when I started polishing the hood and did my section and wiped it off my brother's face was priceless lol he was so excited that he started taking picture and more pictures and more pictures lol
well finished the polish and went on to applying the BFBI sealant wax. I let it wait till it dried and wiped it off. Man did it look like another car. I'm very happy with the results and my brother is even happier.
I aimed for about an 80% perfect looking car. it just had too many deep scratches for me to make it any better.
Well onto the pics. sorry for the long post but am really excited about his car.
