My car was hit at the mall...can you figure this one out?

Why would you park that car so close to all those others? That was already a door-ding waiting to happen let alone something like this.Next time park a little farther away and enjoy the extra walking and your chances of something like this are greatly reduced.

If they tried to tow it from the rear, how would that explain the car being pushed 25 feet into 2 other cars?

Maybe they did not have enough room...I was just thinking how a car with the e-brake on and in gear could move without the rear being lifted. I have to believe if someone hit it in the rear enough to lift the rear enough to roll it would have left more marks. The rear bumper on a 'vette cannot be that good. Or, there would be skid marks (lot a water there on the ground though).

Just thinking out loud.

There were no other spots....and if you saw how hard it was raining, you would understand why I parked in the covered parking garage.

Hindsight is always 20/20, isn't it?

Sorry to see that happen to you man. Hopefully someday you can get to the bottom of what actually happened.

I never park anything nice even close to any other car rain, snow or shine.Good luck Matt maybe you will win the lotto or something really good will happen.

This is really bizzare!
To me it seems like your car had driven forward somehow without contact from the rear with foreign objects. But just to be sure, did you check the lexus's front bumper for any damage?

Was the red Acura there when you parked or did they show up later?

I'm wondering if the following is possible...

Red Acura gets ready to leave and accidentally goes forward instead of backwards, nudges over teh 'vette, but, something under the car catches on the seam between the bumper and hood or an emplem or, something... The weight of the car on the nose of the 'vette helps to take weight off the rear wheels, add in the wet pavement and now it's no so difficult to move the 'vette. Guy starts trying to back up but is stuck to the 'vette, gives it more gas and nothing happens, then...

the rear wheels with the reduced weight break free and the Acura and the 'vette go flying backwards still connected into the Explorer.

This would explain why there is no damage at all to the rear of the 'vette and why there is minimal damage even to front although based on the damage to the REAR of the Acura and the Explorer there was enough speed to do damage.

Anybody willing to go with this one???

makdaddy - the owner of the Acura wasn't present, and I think my front bumper would have been ripped off before the car would have moved.

the owner of the Acura not being present doesn't mean it didn't happen that way, obviosly it was a hit a run of some type, right?

Normally, I would agree that the front bumber would rip off but... with enough downward force on the nose and with the wet pavement, you never know... besides, it's possible that something caught "just right" on some area that was strong enough given the other factors...

Is there any way to look for damage that might have been caused by pulling rather than impact?

Well I would imagine that the lip of the upper edge of my front bumper would have been torn up at the very least....but honestly the Acura's bumper was just laying on top of mine and wasn't anywhere near the hood seal.

Can't get away from the morons these days..

something sounds fishy with the Acura........he screwed up and the left the situation to someone else..
was his hood warm?
I kinda like the above theory with the Acura causing the whole thing.

Nevermind re-examined the pics and my theory didnt float so I would chock this one up to Aliens or perhaps global warming.

It's gotta be the global warming.:joking:

Seriously, that's quite the odd situation. I looked at the pics and first thought was "What the...??"

On second thought, was this an episode on the X-Files?

Damn bro- sorry that happened to your Vette. I would be sick-but like you said it could be worse. I hope you get it fixed up!

Two people could have use wheel dollys and moved your car
94682.gif

Just put the wheel dollys on the two back wheels. and there you go. There's nothing part of the park brake system on the front wheels, but the steering wheel is going to be lock and move the direction the steering wheel was stop when you park the car.

My friends car decided to re-park itself one night a few weeks ago right outside her house. Went through a fence and from those pictures also, it leaves you saying, what the...

Shes not sure what happened either. Both very strange none the less.

Oh, and who was driving the black SUV where you were parked? Did they see it happen or even stick around to talk about it?
