I've had 13 of these towels for a while. In general I love them. I've noticed for a while now that they leave lint or fibers on the surface. I use these towels and several dozen vroom towels for windows and drying. If I did the windows or drying with 2 of the Cobra towels I'd have a lot of lint left on the surface. Most noticeable on the glass. I'm in the habit of making sure the Cobra towel is the first pass towel and a vroom towel second to remove any lint. Since none of my other towels are giving me a problem I'm wondering what I can do. I wash them with laundry detergant (Cheer), extra rinse and dry on low heat. I have grunge towels for other tasks and separate towels that I use for taking off waxes and polishes.

Sorry for your dismay. My Cobra Plush Deluxe haven't linted so far. You should buy a microfiber detergent. Micro Restore on Autogeek is nice. I use it and the towels feel great.

when I hear of linting, it usually means the introduction of other laundry or car towels into the wash. MF's cannot be washed with anything else. I also highly suggest going back to the MF specific soap (Microrestore or Rejuvinator) and when drying try the dryer balls (no fabric softner) to keep them fluffy and new. It works for me and all my MF's ... I even have seperate buckets to store them in when dirty till washed.

i agree i use the dryer balls and love them .im thinking of adding 2 more to the dryer more fluff:p

I would also suggest keeping WW Glass towels seperate, they will pickup anything and I mean anything.

Im starting to notice some too. Washing in cold water, gentle, with Pinn., dry low heat, gentle. And they only get washed with other microfiber which are my indigo towels.

I came onto the board this morning to speak exactly to this, funny how someone had already started a thread!

My purple Cobra Jrs. are the ones that are linting like nobody's business. They are the fluffiest of my towels, but when removing waxes from my paint, you can very clearly see the lint being stuck of the surface. It takes another wash to get it off.

I wash my MFs with Woolite on warm, second rinse and air dry them. The good ones are always seperate from the dirty ones. My other MFs aren't having any issues, only the purple Cobra Jr.

ARGH!!!

Some of my Cobras are starting to lint as well. Couple of my PakShaks are also. I did a test by wiping the screen of my pda phone, all the towels left lint (started noticeing after a quick wipe on the glass showed little strands on the glass when the sun hit). Not sure why, I take great care of my towels and don't mix towels when washing or leaving in buckets as Scott does (wheels seperate, paint seperate, interior seperate etc)

My Chemicl Guys towels are perfect, no lint or anything, but a couple of my PakShaks and Cobras are? The all purpose Cobras are fine though..

yeah ... saw your complaint over on Autopia also.

What I can tell you is the Indigo is the better choice for wax removal. Maybe the fluffies (best for qd'ers) are pulling dust and contaminents from the air and trapping in until you rub and create some static.

That sort of makes sense.

Actually, that makes quite a bit of sense. I was thinking about that too since sometimes I can hear them "spark". I used them today on throwing a quick layer of AW on the Explorer and the same issue. However, I used my new CG yellow/black MFs and must say that even though they look (I swear) almost 100% the same as my Deluxe Jrs, they are fluffier and I don't have the issue with the linting.

Maybe I should wash my Jrs. seperately, I hope that solves it. I love these towels, but the linting is making me want to throw them away...

Does boiling water and sticking towels in the pot actually work, see a lot of poeple mention that on other sites for lint issues? Still not sure I want to boil my Cobras and PakShaks lol.

boiling them for built up wax and stuff ..it works....boiling them will not hurt them....waxes like collinite just do not release in a wash...its says detergent proof...lol....I boiled a few and seen the scum on top ...and towels are fine...no damage...and work like new....Leo from DFT towels said the dye is set in the fiber at 500 degrees....so 212 is not going to hurt them....

Here is some additional information.
I only wash my mf towels with mf towels. I wash my grunge towels, drying & glass towels and my polish & wax towels separately. I also keep them separated in laundry bags at work. I've never used the dryer balls but might give them a shot. I haven't used bleach or fabric softener on them. At some point I'll get some dedicated glass towels. Other than normal plush type mf towels, I've also tried surgical huck and ww towels (Costco). I tried a quart of microrestore a while back when I was having some problems with my towels not coming completely clean. I didn't feel it made a difference. I do sometimes use vinegar in the first rinse cycle. Between that and a new washing machine the towels are cleaner.
I have not tried the specialty mf glass towels yet.

somehow "sparks" is not something I would want to hear/see around towels. All I can see is next post, My flufflies are on fire @@

I get the same thing. My Cobra Ultra Plush. Only ever used for buffing off wax/sealant, only washed with Pinnacle MF Rejuv, never washed with anything else, stored in tupperware drawers.

Did anyone ever solve the linting problem on Cobra Micro Fiber Towels. I want to buy some on my next order but I don't want to invest in linting towels. Did Autogeek take care of you guys with the problems of linting.

I never complained to them. I only noticed it once. Ive rewashed the towels and havent noticed it again. Ill be using them again on Thursday though, so well see.

I noticed linting since I was using a Cobra Jr on a black car. Hopefully after washing the towel it will go away :).

Killr - Sparking MF towels only mean one thing, TERRORISTS...just kidding :p

I noticed mine linting last week (cobra ultra plush), but I think it had something to do with washing it with the guzzler. Not sure why, but my guzzler and all my wax towels were all linting this weekend (only noticable on black), and they were all washed seperately by themselves..
