When I was a little kid, my dad had a 1974 Corvette that he had to sell in order to put a down payment on our house. He did this without any second thought, even though mom know it absolutely broke his heart to sell it. She told him when they got more settled down in life, he would be able to get another one. Well, between life, and me getting older (putting me through college) he hasn't had the money to get a new Corvette, and I promised myself that when I was older I would do whatever I could in my power to get him another one. That time just happens to coincide with this year...and I don't think the timing could be better. I happened to get a tip from a friend that his father would be getting rid of his 2002 corvette in order to buy a brand new corvette, so I went to check it out. What I found was a 2002 Corvette convertible. White on white with a red interior. It was everything he wanted in a Vette except it's an auto, and he really wanted 6-spd. The reason I know he will go for this is the car has just over 13,000 miles, was garage kept, and hasn't even seen rain in it's nearly 10 year existence...ok now on to the pictures.

There's no doubt about it, your Dad will be speechless for a moment, his eyes will well up, and then you'll get a Dad size hug...........probably several...:props:

I'm sure he'll love it. The hardest part is going to be hiding it for another week. I'm also trying to get it 100% cleaned up for him. It's in really good shape, but there are some things I want to get cleaned up before he gets it. Like smudges on the convertible top, and smudges on the door sills, but that's pretty much it.

WOW, by your actions it is VERY apparent that you have an incredible father who raised an incredible son!

I believe that you can measure a mans characted by the actions of his children...

Kudos to you and your father... I can only hope that I am doing as good of a job raising my kids as your father seems to have done with you!

Thanks for sharing this!

Thats what this time of year is all about... people always say its the thought that counts..... you hit it out of the park, only thing i can say is make sure someone is taping him at the unveiling because thats a memory of a lifetime!!

VERY SWEET!!! I hope to one day get my mom a 65 Mustang that has been her dream to have one again so I totally understand and very happy for your dad!

Thanks, guys. He is the metric I judge my life by. If I end up being half the man he is, I'll consider my life a success.

That's really nice of you to give that gift to your dad. I hope that I can have a son like you in the future.

I am sure the OP was born a good kid to start off with but his Dad put in a lot of work to have what appears to be such an excellent son...

Like I tell people, it aint' magic...

I'll try to get a video, as of now, I don't even know how I'm going to "unveil" it.

Hmmm, that's going to be the fun part....

You could tell him you rented it for him for a week, then you guys go for a spin and let the cat out of the bag?? Hmm, so many options..... Good times!

You could even put it in the neighbors driveway with a big bow - and make it look like it is something the neighbors got for Christmas... You can ohhhh and ahhhh over it for a second and then let him have it!!

Awesome story! Your father is going to pee his pants when he sees the Corvette. Make sure he takes you for a ride in it. Nothing like some good old father & son time together.

Man...this is an awesome and inspiring story. I'm glad you were able to get your dad that car. Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm sure he's gonna be thrilled.

Im so happy to hear stories like this. I always thought of doing similar things for my folks, way to go!!! I think your dads gonna freak out! Totaly bitchin ride too!!!
