I've never done a boat before. But like new challenges. What are you guys thoughts on the boat in the picture?

Is something like this Very difficult? Anything I need to be aware of about Detailing a boat like this that I might not be aware of?

Thankyou for any help guys!

gel coat is a much bigger pain in the ass then automotive paint. Talk to people who do boats on the regular, I only detail my own and have had several boats over the years.

That boat makes a Suburban look like a Smart car:)

Do you have a rotary and marine/gel coat compound/polishes?

Are you polishing the gel coat or are you just cleaning/detailing w/o polishing?

How many hours have you allotted for the detail?

Those are all Great questions Ledetailing! And I'm starting to think it may not be a good idea for me to pick up this job without learning about how to detail boats properly. And with me only having the weekends available to detail, maybe I would be taking on much more than I can handle right now.

It really depends on whether the gel coat needs correction at all. If it is just a clean and lsp, you should be good. If it is a correction job with heavy swirls and scratches I wouldn't recommend it unles you have a rotary and wool cutting pads and compound and polish made for gel coat. If you are just cleaning and waxing, a good all in one, good vinyl cleaner and some 303 and you should be good to go. I use megs marine flagship cleaner wax and a polishing pad for most boats unless major correction is needed. Goes on and off pretty good too. If you are working in the sun do the boat in quarters.
