Hey guys, been doing alot of reading on the forum and after buying products and watching videos I think I am going to tackle my first machine polish, full detail this weekend. It will be on my 00 Corvette that has horrible hard water spots in the paint. I thought I could share what I was planning and see if you guys had any input on a different way to do it or if I am missing something. I dont see a need for a sealant as this car is only driven a couple times per month in nice weather, stored in winter, and will be waxed probably once a month :xyxthumbs: Obviously I left out all the steps for interior, underhood, truck.. I can get that stuff clean but never used the machine before, only used store bought wax and applied with a random orbital..

Wash
Clay
Meguiars 105 with orange pad
Meguiars 205 with grey pad (white pad instead?)
Liquid Souveran with red pad

Let me know how you would do it or if this seems good??

I will be starting tomorrow, taking a ton of pics to share, and will take my time doing it so finished pictures should be up Sunday

Good luck to you! Advice from this forum has proved invaluable to me, and it helped me immensely when I did my first full detail on my car yesterday.

Happy Detailing!

I've never used a machine before, but your choice of pads and product seems about right. I don't have a machine (not yet, anyway) and have plans to get one in the future. Should cut polishing time in half.

Maybe start with orange pad, step down to white, then finish with black/grey pad? Black/grey pads have no cut, so choice of polishing product is more important. Some of the veteran detailers can offer more detailed advice.

Hope this helps.

Looks good to me.

As for the 205 pad. I'd start with the grey/black and see if its doing what you want, if its not you can bump up to the white pad.

I've used all these products on the pads you mention and your product choices look good to me. Just make sure to prime all your pads and shake the liquid souveran a lot before use, but that goes without saying.

on the porter cable i went
Speed 5 for 105
speed 4.5-5ish for 205
speed 1-2 for liquid souveran.
