I washed my car, clayed it with clay magic, then I tried a spot with PB PwC on a white pad....looked better but wasn't quite there. Went with megs swirl x on a white pad then went back over it with PwC (this seemed like a waste). Only did rough parts with swirl x and orange pad...then went back over with PwC on white. But no matter what I did I couldn't get a defect free finish. I did 2-3 passes... I did 5-6 passes...fast and/or slow with pressure I STILL missed bout a 1/4 of the scratches which is weird b/c they weren't worse than the others. It looks a LOT better than it did but I want the car to be perfect as possible. I plan on topping with Collinite 845 by hand tomorrow. What can I do to get that showcar finish ?Feed back please EDIT: I did the headlights with swirlx followed with PwC on white pads in case another N00B like me wonders what it would like. They could use sanding as they are pitted but I think I will see better now!!! now if I could only find how to get the pitting out my windshield :-(

Step your polish and pad selection up

105 or Ulitmate compound with a Surbuf, followed by 105 and an orange pad

surbuf is that wool ?.....and I figured that was it but I was wondering if there was a different way because I didn't want to go that aggressive and remove that much clear

Swirl x really isn't very strong at all. Give ultimate compound and an orange pad a try. if that doesn't give you what you want move to 105 and orange. And if that doesn't work 105 and surbuf. Also the surbuf pads are microfiber, not wool.

The consensus seems to be go more aggressive :-/ Is that safe on 2002 acura clear coat? and BIG thanks to everybody for all the info. I did a LOTTTT of reading on here and many questions asked to help me tackle this! :buffing:

Yes, you'll be fine using this combination with a DA
