So i just got my PC kit from autogeek on Wednesday, and i detailed my girlfriends best friends car. i did it for her birthday, whats better than a free detail?? nothing! well her car has never been washed before, and likely not vacuumed too well either. It was gross. this is my first detail with a PC and i think i did a good job. heres the pictures!
Process:
Wash and use alot of purple power and 3M wax&tar remover to clean up the exterior. used poorboys spray and rinse on wheels. followed with DP clay. took me 2 hours to get this car ready for buffing.
Buffed with XMT3 orange LC pad.
waxed with pinnacle liquid souveran.
It needs a buff with a lighter duty polish, i was going to use Klasse AIO with a white pad but i ran out of time.
Notice all of the tar on this thing! ive never seen a car so bad! and im a car wash boy at a dealer too!

There are other pics, but i dont think you guys really want to see a bunch of pictures of a ford escort. my pictures dont really capture the amount of shine i brought back to the car. I could tell that it was oxidized because it had almost no shine at all before i started on it. Also, when i was buffing the roof, the buffed side was nice and white while the unbuffed side was almost a gray color. I was amazed at how easy it is to use a PC! anyone could do it! I couldnt believe the amount of scratches i removed too! i thought only professionals could do that! This car was NASTY and now i think it is pretty respectable. the girl should be really happy with such a nice shiny car!

:applause:..job well done......great turn around...and you are right that was some nasty road tar...

huge difference, and just wait you will likely get even better with it. One hint, with all that tar might wanna buy her a bottle of Poorboys Bug Squash or Stoners Tarminator to keep in the trunk !!

Nice job!! There's a big difference. Definitely see a nice shine to it, and the body looks nice and smooth!

Very nice turn around, I would say you gave that vehicle a nice shine and it looks to have nice depth.

Thanks for sharing, by the way we love pictures here so the more the better...keep the pictures coming oh and don't think that just becuse it's an older car we dont want to see pictures of your had work...share we love pictures.

Nice work! Just curious, how long did it take to polish/wax after the wash?

Congrats on your first detail! I think you done an outstanding job! You made a different car out of it! Nice gloss! :applause:

thanks for the feedback everyone! i would say the car REALLY improved, even my mom was impressed when she saw it. it took me 4 hours after the wash, tar, and clay. i was going slow because one of my friends came home from college for the weekend so i talked with him for a half hour, and my other friend was there with me and washing his own car, so i had a few distractions.
One of my moms friends stopped by and she was impressed, i think i might have a new customer! How easy is it for you all to get customers?

Great turnaround you did a great job removing the tar..I bet it was somewhat cold out eh..

getting clients is easy...word of mouth is your best friend...one client always turns into two or three...the two or three then turn into 6 to 10...etc...i usually have to turn down a lot of work as I only do this now as a side job....or I just load myself up with exterior wash and wax only for the people who don't want full details...30-45 minutes of work = fast money...and i keep myslef busy for 8 hours and make off like a bandit...and for the people who want full details I make appointments...youd be surprised on a sunny weekend how fast you can move down an entire neighborhood street with just wash and wax services...most people don't really care about paint correction..they just want it clean and shiney...

you bet it was cold! i wore rubber kitchen gloves to do all the washing and claying! AND the water and lube for the clay was freezing and make it impossible to knead the clay bar to get a clean side. i had to keep spraying the car down with water to melt the ice. i think you can see icicles on some of the pictures i posted.
