Well, received a PC7424XP last week to help get rid of some winter/dealer induced swirls on my 2011 Black Nissan Frontier. Took me at least 8 hours to get the tail-gate, passenger side pan (box), and passenger door done.

Tried lots of combos but ended up settling on Optimum Polish II on an orange LC CCS pad, followed by Collinite 845 wax. I also tried following the polish II with Optimum finish polish, but didn't see enough improvement to spend time on that extra step.

I can still see a few scratches using the halogens, but overall it looks pretty darn good for my first time. It's also a daily driver and gets used in the woods, so i can't really expect it to be perfect!

Few before and after shots:

Great work for first time! You def can see the difference thats for sure, awesome job!

Awesome job for your first go! The Opt. Polishes are great products.

Looks great! I'm not sure why detail is in quotations. You have nothing to be ashamed of. It looks fantastic for your first time. I know many people that have extremely fast arm movement speed and can "buff a car in 20 min". At which point the car doesnt look any better than it did before. You shouldn't be ashamed! We need more pictures though!

Nice work. You said it took you 8 hours; it is time consuming but you'll become quicker with more experience.

Thanks guys! I did a ton of research before diving in. watched lots of video too. It took me that long for just a few sections & I still have much more to complete before its all done. That being said, my wash took a couple hours, then a few hours testing some different products on the tailgate, plus beer breaks...of which I may have taken too many! I'm hoping to do a few sections every weekend until it is shiny all over. I'll post some more pics when its makeover is complete.

For the first attempt I see you're a natural!! :props:

The hand reflection is a great shot!! :dblthumb2:

Nice work there. Taking time and enjoying it is how it should be. That truck will look stunning when it's all finished up for sure.

Welcome to the site.

Very nice job with the correction. That's a great detail, to be sure!

Looks good. You didn't say, but if you didn't clay and then use a paint cleaner, try that next time before the compounding and polishing, you will get a great result.

Great work hand. You must have been grinning from ear to ear.
Prepare to spend a lot more time on the forums now hand...because you'll only get blank stares if you try to explain the bling to family and friends. 10-04?

Great job!!! Its an awesome feeling when you see the final result..

Great work there! It did need some attention for sure but atleast it wasn't that bad, we've all seen worse on this forum for sure! Now that you got it lookin' good I bet you stay ontop of it for sure and like I say, black is beautiful....especially when its someone elses to take care of, LOL!

Yeah, I clayed each section before starting on the buffer. It needed it bad too. No paint cleaner though. I didn't realized a cleaner would be necessary. Just straight to polish.

Black is beautiful when it its clean, but the way I use my rig, coupled with the fact its parked in an industrial park all day makes upkeep tough!

I miss my old white beater truck sometimes

And yes, my wife thinks I'm crazy! She has no idea what swirls are, and doesn't care to learn.

See that you park the car in a high traffic industrial area, before your next polish try clay, then Iron X and maybe a paint cleanser. I bet you will be shocked/horrified at the stuff that comes off with the Iron X. It is a lot of work so it seems, but if you enjoy it, then it is a labor of love.

Happy Detailing,
Sparty
