So, my car was the testing ground for some Poor Boy's products the last few weeks. I have SSR1, PwC, and NB on the hood, and the PwC and NB on the hatchlid.
The car is a 07 Toyota Yaris Liftback with the DISO that we all love.
The SSR1 and white 65" pad did remove most of them from the hood 2 weeks ago, and when topped with the NB, it looked really nice.
Fast forward to today, and Chicago has 55 degree perfect weather! Nice for once. So I decided to fully clay the entire car (only the hood and hatch were done), polish, and seal. Below is the arsenal I used.
Products Used:
-Dawn wash...I know, I know, not supposed to use this, but I really wanted the NB to be removed off the hood/hatch before I started polishing.
-Sonus Green clay
-Four Star clay lubricant
-LC 5.5 low profile org/white pads
-Optimum Polish was used with the org pad, and remarkably didn't need another pass with the white pad! I found that working the polish in at speed 2 on the PC, then going right to speed 6, and doing 2 harder pressure passes, followed by a lighter pass with speed 6, and then a very light pressure pass at speed 5 to clean things up. This seems to work well, do you guys have any input?
-Optimum compound and a wht pad was tried on some of the heavier scratches, but didn't do much more than polish/org, so I stepped up to org/compound and that removed 90% of them, but it did make the surface a bit hazy. Nothing a single pass though with OP/org didn't take right out though.
-Optimum tire shine, GREAT stuff! Much like the PB's BnB, but a bit thicker.
-Duragloss 105 and 921 was used to quick detail any remaining polish residue off before sealing with 105.
Sorry my 2 before pics aren't that good, but they do show some minor hazing/marring. The car does only have 300 miles on it, so I just wanted to lightly clean it up and seal it.
The 105 was applied via pinnacle yellow foam app and let haze for about 20 min, then a wipe off with Cobra Deluxe Jr and Sonus yellow buffing towels, (these are both great)!
Oh yeah, my thoughts on the PB's vs DG 105.
Flat out, the 105 BLOWS away the NB. I don't know how else to put it. Maybe because my black has metallic flakes in it? Because all the NB did was hide the flakes in comparison to the 105. Maybe NB would only be better on solid dark colors??
Either way, the only PB's product I kept was Bug Squash, all the rest are longa gona...hehe. I'll be sticking to Optimum and Duragloss for now. Got a sample of UPP I want to try though, maybe on the hood??
I'm waiting 24 hours, then applying another coat of 105, then a coat of AW after the first wash, should be durable.
Total time was 5 hours, I think I'm slow.
