Howdy to y'all!
This is a message that i sent back to a forum member that was giving me some tips on detailing...which I sincerely appreciated. It was a picture of my day with my new Ford F-150 Platinum.
Today...I was feeling kind of sick with all the pollen and I was laying there on the couch...hacking up my lungs..and watching Judge Judy..which I grew tired of doing after watching 1 1/2 hours of it. So...what better thing to do...go piddle with my truck.
Here is the itinerary:
1. washed with a low concentrate of Dawn and warm water.
2. Re-clayed all surfaces with Top of the Line Detailing clay...which is supposed to remove wax as well.
3. Cleaned wheels with McQuires Aluminum wheel cleaner.
4. I had taken back the Sears polisher and bought a Griots DA polisher at Advance Auto parts. I applied a thin coat of Wolfgang Sealant 3.0 using a black Lake County 5.5" pad
5. Cleaned glass with Wolfgang Perfect Vision glass cleaner. (Beautiful job!!!)
6. Use Pinnacles Hide-soft cleaner as well as conditioner on leather.
7. Coated all exterior trim with Wolfgangs Exterior Trim sealant. (Works GREAT!)
8. Used Never Dull wadding cloth to coat wheels. Leaves a nice coating and shine.
9. Used Surf City Garage "Beyond Black" to coat tires with a foam applicator
10. Went over entire truck with a soft Microfiber towel to catch any residue as well as detail brush to brush away any wax residue in emblems or door/hood cracks.
11. Sat back with a cold drink and admired my work...now sicker than when I started!
I bought a 36 pack of Microfiber towels from Costco which have a 80-20 polymide/polyster count..and were very fluffy. I used those as general towels, where I had some, (8 or 9) ultra plush Microfiber towels for polishing that I have picked up over the past two years.
That is how MY day went!!
I have bought a TON of stuff with Autogeek online. Cobra drying towels, brushes, pads, applicators, Wolfgang and Pinnacle waxes and sealants, Wolfgang Exterior trim sealant, Wolfgang Glass cleaner..etc..etc. I have spent the motherload in just a 2 week span. BUT..the results were amazing. The only thing I wished I would have done different is to NOT use Dawn..but after a lot of research..I found that for this one time..it would not be an issue to use to remove the old carnuba wax that was on the truck. If it was the wrong thing to do..the results were simply amazing.
If anyone thinks that I've gone astray in any one category...please speak up!
