My first time!

Yeah...that's what I'm hoping haha. I have a bad feeling my dad is going to be disappointed haha. I talked him into buying all this stuff. I told him today that we need more pads and MF towels. He's like, we've already spent all this money and now we have to buy more?! I was just looking at the Menzerna stuff..it's pretty expensive. Then again...you get what you pay for. What do you think I should go with...SIP, Nano, and their APO-60? I don't need a compound or anything?

The Menzerna is expensive but well worth it. Start off with just getting the SIP and 106ff or 85rd. No need for the APO. You don't have to go crazy with stuff but the initial cost will pay for itself over time.

Just give it some time. By the time you are done with the car you will have alot better understanding of how the polish looks when its broken down. It takes time to master but when you do the results will amaze you.

So what would I use for my LSP? I have some DuPont paint protector that a detail guy from a Porsche dealership gave me that I've been told could be used as an LSP. If I only bought SIP and 85rd, it would only be around $75 for both. That's not too bad. Would I just use a white pad for the SIP, and then a gray pad for the 85rd, and then finish off with a blue pad for the sealant? I also have that finishing glaze and the XMT stuff. Not sure where those would fit in if I bought the Menzerna, but you never know lol.

Yeah. I'm amazed by the results everyone is getting. I like the results I got on my hood. We'll see how it really looks tomorrow when I get it out in the sun.

For lsp its all about what you are looking for. As far as a sealant, Wolfgang is a very nice one,and Souveran is awesome but the durability is poor. I would get some nattys blue, its not that much and produces very nice results. With the pc you are going to use the SIP with your orange and white pads, 85rd with a white pad after that, then finish 85rd with a blue pad. You just going to have to judge which pad is needed with the polish for the job, but always finish with 85rd on a blue pad.

Ohh...so make two passes with the SIP using different pads, then the 85rd twice with white, then blue. Then I could LSP with with Natty's blue using blue or red pad? When you say judge which pad is needed..you're talking about the SIP and using the orange or white pads right?

For best bang for the lsp buck and great protection Collinite 845 or 476. or both

Lol...I just looked up Poorboy's stuff and Collonite stuff and both are pretty cheap. I'm all about cheap haha.

Correct, with the sip you need to see what pad you are going to need for that job. You don't want to jump from an orange pad to a blue pad, you have to have something inbetween, so the white pad or even a green pad would be your inbetween pad. I would use the red pad, but I apply everything by hand.

To me, this is up for debate. Its all about what you are looking for.

From what I've read about Natty blue...it's pretty darn good, and it's a paste...which I've heard is better than a liquid...

Correct, would use a paste over a liquid. There are alot of people that actually like the look of Nattys blue over Souveran, especially on a darker car.

I like the souveran it does a great job for me.. and yes I was working on a Red 06 GTO today that has given me all kinda hell with the CC. It has severe swirls and blemishes from carwash brushes. Its my first BIG paint correction and its a buddy of mine.. I am attempting with the Optimum Compound and it does a pretty good job, but after I shine the halogens on it.. it seems there are always minor swirls still that I am missing.. even after several passes.. any suggestions?

Menzerna!!! Lol...that seems to always be the answer when trying to tackle pesky swirls.

hey joshs07redss,

thanks for posting these questions. these are the very same questions i have about the XMT kit. i like you have purchased these products, and i will be attempting my first job on my Black 2008 trailblazer SS this friday hopefully, she has light swirl marks and fine scratches from the car wash, and reading these post just gave me a few more insites on what to look for.

LOL, i was also confused when the video tells ya to continue until the product breaks down, now i understand it better.
