My garage project

It's 25feet by 12feet

1st throw out everything
2nd painting the walls
3rd coating the floor.
4th cabinets for my detailing stuff

You have a nice canvas to work with, with a lot of potential! I'm sure it will turn out nice. You probably already have a game plan but just a word of advice from a bad situation I got myself into with my garage. I wanted to epoxy my floor. I watched some videos and decided I would do it myself. I bought the product, properly prepared the concrete. It turned out well. About 4 months later the gray floor began to yellow where the sunlight would hit when the door was up. So either get an industrial coating or have a company that does industrial coatings put it down and get a warranty. Goodluck man.

If you want to keep thing off the floor you could go with a cabinet set up like mine.

Which floor coating did you go with?
I got mines at lowes. It's light gray. got the blue/ white chips to toss on top. the gloss coat goes on after.

I need to re-epoxy my garage floors...for the 3rd time in 10 years. Properly cleaned and everything as it says, but it always chips/peels where the tires sit in about 6 months, and they get bigger from there on. This most recent coat only lasted about 2 years or so.

Maybe 3rd time's the charm

Looks like a fun project......looking forward to pics of the finished product.

Ok, confession time. I stained my garage gray right after I moved in 24 years ago. It lasted pretty well with only minor lifting at the footprints. In the summer, the tires are too hot to touch so I wasn't surprised.

A year ago I decided a DIY epoxy from Lowes was the right way to go for a freshen up. It was guaranteed to work. Knowing that prep is key in any finish, I purchased scotch pads and 80 grit disks and set about getting it down to bare concrete with a commercial floor buffer. A light acid wash to get some tooth and a complete rinse before allowing the self cleaning oven I live it to dry it out.

Got up at 0445 to hit the sweet spot for application temp and off I went. Recommended 3 days before traffic so I waited 5. This is going to be awesome and I'll soon be the envy of the neighborhood thought I.

It looked great....for about a month. Then it lifted at every contact patch and at the threshold. Now it looks awful and I feel much shame. I'm going to sell the house so my personal failure doesn't slap me in the face every time I open the door (I also want a bigger garage).

Here's what I got at lowes

I used that same stuff on mine about 2.5 years ago. Works well and has lasted up till now.

If I could do it again, I wouldn't use the flakes though.
1. It's hard to see dirt when I want to sweep the floor.
2. I actually used too much and ran out of the flakes when I was about 9/10 of the way through the epoxy job, so there is now a bare spot right near the garage door.

So if you're going to use the flakes, go easy on them to make sure you don't run out! :xyxthumbs:

Very nice size garage. If I could recommend anything if you have the time and go back to Lowe's return the epoxy shield and purchase a product called epoxy coat. Your Lowe's store can order it for you or you can get it at Lowes.com. Or if you would like directly from the dealer themselves. It goes in much thicker and has a lifetime warranty...

Little background of myself i have been in paint at Lowes for 3 years and dealt with problems from the rustoleum and valspar/quikrete products and none with the epoxy coat :) any questions feel free to pm me.
