Under the lid. Raised it up to check water level and there he was. He actually isn't the biggest one we've had. When you live in the woods next to a river you have all kinds of creatures.

Here's a few more.

This owl with 3 of his brothers/sisters came to perch in the same small tree next to the house for several nights. Quite a sight.

This little guy showed up earlier this year, cold wet, and hungry. Fed him and he went on his way.
