Holy Smokes!
I hope you wore gloves:
I definitely made sure to wear gloves every time I worked on the car.
No, you don't understand...the OP BOUGHT THE CAR. :bolt:
Yes, I did, for $500. When I first bought it, it had not been registered in 2 years, so it's not as if I could drive it either to see if the engine was good. I took a shot in the dark, but a very confident one at that because I also hae a 94 Accord Coupe and am very familiar with these models. Had a part not worked, I could have easily sourced one from a buddy or the junkyard. If the car did not work at all, I could have easily flipped it for $2000 in parts.
This was my former daily driver before I began to modify it with custom parts that if they broke would take at least a month to fabricate again.

If a customer states that their car's interior "needs" to be detailed, then I probably don't want to do it!
YIKES! That was gross....
Did you wear a Hazmat suit?
Exceptional save! :dblthumb2:
On a side note, what's the story on the Stepside Shorty?

An hazmat suit was not necessary but rather some determination. As for the stepside, it belongs to my aunt but she is looking to sell it. She let her oldest son drive it who needless to say did not take care of it. New owner would have to put in some work being that it has been sitting for several years now.
you put more $ into the cleaning than the car is worth. I am the original owner of a 17 year old beater too, but nothing more than bottled water has entered the car.
I actually did not since I bought the vehicle and did not do it for someone. I figuered that all it would take is some time and in the long run, I would be a great learning experience.
Yeah, me too...even if I could have cleaned it up as well as the OP...I don't think I could drive in that car every day knowing what it was like when I got it (shudder).
I had the mindset too but I figuered, the only way I'd be able to drive it everyday is if I cleaned it myself and not someone else. Only then would I know that I went over every part I possibly could.
WOW! Great job!! :dblthumb2: How long did it take?
I actually did it over the period of a month.
What did you do to the outside---Maaco maybe.
I'm hoping to enroll in a body shop class or perhaps even intern at a body shop where I can learn how to do some work so that I could down the line paint the car myself.
You are a brave man. I would have taken one look, lit it on fire, and pushed it off a cliff.
You got it in very nice condition considering what you started with.rops:
As crappy as it looks, it's not that bad at all. The body is straight! Not something I would have expected.
I can honestly say that was the absolute worst I've ever seen or even imagined. Your determination to 'make it work' is admirable to say the least. I can't fathom what the oil looks like in the engine........assuming it has any. Well Done :applause::applause::applause::applause::applause:
Oh my, the oil! Mechanically, this car is good, but not to my standards. DIRTY! I may have to make another thread of this. The oil was dark. The oil in the transmissionw as like sludge. The previous owner used Dexron III ATF when he was supposed to use Dexron II. As a result, when I first started to drive it was slipping. I have since then changed the oil to Honda ATF and the problem quickly went away. Next on my list is to change the oil pan & valve cover gaskets so that I can seafoam it and then change the oil. Following this I will change the plugs, wires, & rotor cap. The way I see it, all standard maintenance and it helps that I can do all the work myself.
