My new car and the ultimate detail

Because I ordered it with the HID headlights there is a production delay. I won't receive the car until mid-November so it really won't be driven until next Spring. It'll sit in the garage because I have a DD.

haha, good idea... i guess you mean tangerine peel.

I'm beginning to think about just polishing the paint and then going with the 3 layers of C1 and EXO. That should provide a whole lot of gloss and protection.

make sure that each layer of c1 is fully cured prior to applying the next layer otherwise it will be very "grabby".

good luck with the prep - cracking car to do it on :xyxthumbs:

Thanks Rob! I am planning on a full 24 hours between coats of C1

Perhaps you were seeing this car, an imported mk2 Focus RS. Much different car.

Yes! That looks exactly like it. I'd never seen one before, thing was quick and sounded sick.

This thread will tell you a lot about that car.
Mexican 2010 Focus RS Mk2 in the US

I wish Ford would have actually sold them in the US. 300bhp out of a turbo 5 cylinder. With the modifications this guy has done I can definitely see it running in the 12's

Removing more than .2 microns (5 MIL) is where you run risks of removing the ceramic layer thus leaving the clear very soft.

You mixed up mil and microns: the fumed silica is in the top 5 or 6 microns (around 0.2 mil).

Yeah, if he removes 5 mil it's not that the paint will be soft, there won't be any paint left on the car.
