My New Car: Chevy HHR or Pontiac Vibe

If its going to be your personal transportation also along with business tranportation you may want to think about that too. What do you want to drive around all the time? I sit easy to take everything out for extra passengers? Also talk to your tax guy to see what all you can write off since you have your own business. You maybe be able to afford a little more than you think. Especially if the $ from your Stang is going to be your down payment. I am by no means trying to tell you to spend more. Maybe do a little research on the financial side too. It is nice not to have payments too. :) I am almost to that point.

My budget is probably going to be absolutely no more than $14,000. I'm fairly open to vehicles. I just want something reliable or with very very little miles, decent mpg (no less than now, 17/21), and preferably a 4 seater.
Take a look at some trucks then. Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma (although I'm not a big fan of Toyotas), Nissan Frontier, and maybe some others.

Good luck.

When I first started reading your thread I thought , why isn't Greg considering a truck. With all of the wet equipment going in/out of your vehicle a truck gets my vote. Plus, there are some good looking ones now. A well detailed customized truck will catch my eye as quick as a car.

I have a 96 toyota t100 with 220k on it, and i am still towing 1/2-3/4 ton loads over mountains with no problems. I have nothing but good things to say about tacomas. However, with that said, i am a little hesitant about the newer(>2003/4) models. Toyota in general seems to be slipping a tad in QC since they are such a large company now over in the US, but they still seem like a great truck(it is going to be my replacement truck in a year or two.

Damn! 12 000$ for a 2006 modell car? Thats what I had to pay for å 94 modell audi 80 :p

I liked the chevy best, out of the looks.

Are you talking about when I said $12,000 for the Vibe?

As supercharged said, most of them were 01-04. Some were as low as $10,500 with less than 50K miles. I did find a few 05's (new model), for high 12's with about 30K miles.

HHR remind my of a 50's bread van or milk truck I don't like them one bit. I'm not much for teh vibe either. I would look into a small truck like the Ranger or S10/Colorado. Also the Fusions seat fold down and it has a lot of trunk space.
