I have to thank Heath (Cooter) for suggesting this.

I just revieved it yesterday so I haven't been able to use it, but just from the look and feel it is a high quality tool. Its very comfortable to hold, seems well balanced, and much lighter than I thought it would be. I love the trigger tension, its very smooth with not too much or too little resistance, accelerates smoothly, quiet and solid when running.

I have an RV to do this weekend so we will have PLENTY of time to get to know one another.

Here are some pics

Let me know how that works for ya man - - - - - lookin to add to my arsenal soon.

It's refurbished, but I called to ask some questions about it and I was told that they are pretty much completely new. From the look I would have to agree. From whatn I could see of the guts without taking it apart-all looks new and has a 90 day warranty.

It was $125 plus shipping. I couldn't pass it up.

I am really looking forward to using it.

what is that backing plate? Did it come with it?

No it was sepertate. Its a 3M 09553 Perfect It (4.75 dia) backing plate, AG doesn't sell them. Its the best backing plate I have ever used, its very smooth.

AG does sell on similar, its the Meg's 6 inch Solo Easy Buff Backing Plate number W66. Its the same type but the foam is much different and a 1/3 the cost, its a mores stiff but still works pretty well. I have both, but if the 3M was bigger I would never use the Easy Buff.

Nice looking machine, I have always been curious about the dynabrade rotary.

That backing plate is all the rage across the pond.

Yeah, I thought I would give it a shot and I have to say it does live up to the expectations.

I've been looking at this as well. It is supposed to be a real workhorse. I called for a distributor in my area and the guy quoted a retail price of $261 I believe. I'm not going to jump on it just yet, going to wait for the updated DeWalt 849. According to the guys at SEMA it should be released around June/July and a possible suggested retail of $230.

I have a catalog here in my hands with that same Dynabrade unit in it for $234.99, but after you add shipping to that it probably comes close to that $261 you were quoted. Seems pretty reasonable.

Do you have any information on what changes are on the way with the new DW849? Is the new one going to be more on par with the Makita 9227C or Flex PE14?

Please forgive me as I have forgotten the power specifications, but I am certain it is more powerful than the new Flex PE14. As you can see by the picture they have added vent covers, covered the head of the polisher, changed the location of the selector, added the option to place the handle where you prefer or remove of course, and added a 600rpm feature. Forgive the picture quality, it was taken in a hurry with my iPhone 3G. Oh, it is lighter than the current model. I held them side by side and there was a difference.

Wow... that does look impressive. Also seems like it would be a lot more comfortable to use than the current 849 is.

Yes, I really like that. When is the rumored release date?

June/July. The reason I'm waiting before I jump on the Dynabrade is because I can't remember the power rating of the updated D849. If it's less than the current model then I'm going with a Dynabrade like yours.
