My New HHR Panel as my Mobile Detailing Vehicle

If i remember correctly, the Great and Powerful Todd Helme used to have one of those! Looks like a nice mobile rig and i'm glad to hear it's working out for you. And fun to drive? That's a bonus.

Would look really with some business graphics on that color too.

Edit - whoops, sorry for the double post. Can't delete the unwanted one.

Thanks for looking; it is working out quite nicely for me, I feel like everything fits perfectly, so for me, the best combination of size/storage and efficiency. And most definitely way more fun to drive than the old beat up Explorer I upgraded from.

The graphics will be the next project after I finish the water set up, then I might look into making it even more fun to drive and upgrading some stuff under the hood!:xyxthumbs:

With no pump or pressure washer are you using gravity feed to a hose right now or not using it at all?

Yeah, it's kind of just there right now. I keep roughly 15 gallons in for filling buckets for Rinseless washes and interior cleaning when needed. I almost always use the customer's water supply, so it's just back-up right now. Once I have the pump and pressure washer all set up, I'll be able to use this much more often instead of having it just take up space in my car.

Do you think u could get enough pressure out of it to say run a foam gun if the tank was full?

O ok cool, how big is that tank?
Its s smaller one, 26 gallon.

Just via gravity, definitely not; once I get a pump and pressure washer hooked up, I'm pretty sure that I should be able to use a foam cannon. The pump should give it enough pressure.

I am definitely going to subscribe to this one too. your HHR, looklooks great. I am looking at a black one myself, it's got a lot of miles but these cars are like little astro vans from what I heard. I'm super excited to do mobile detailing this way. it seems more practical because im doing it part time. what kind of steamer do you have and how do u like it?

Hey jarred looks great! I too wanted an HHR for mobile but run onto a chevy cargo astro I couldn't pass up. Also love the color! going to make a great mobile for ya!!! :xyxthumbs:

Great, I have been super happy so far with mine. I've only had it a couple months, but it works perfectly for what I need it for. I'm still in the process of getting everything outfitted inside and out, but I've been using it since I bought it and had absolutely zero issues. There is a ton of space for the size of the car, it's just a matter of using the space effectively.

As for the steam cleaner. I use a Vapor Clean Pro5 and couldn't be much happier. Their customer service isn't the greatest, but I've only had to use that once since this machine is a beast. I've had two of this model over the last 8 years and both have been rock solid - the only reason I got a second one was because my old truck got broken into and a bunch of stuff was stolen, or else I'd probably still be using that original one. A little pricey, but totally worth it in my opinion.

Thanks Daniel, yeah I love it. Hopefully I'll be able to get my company graphics on the sides of it sometime soon. My plan was January, but things keep getting pushed back cause I'm way busier than I usually am this time of year, good problem to have though :)

did you ever figure out how you are gonna run the tank, pump, and pressure washer set up? I've been reading a lot on it and it can get confusing. I am going to look at a black HHR on monday, hopefully I can make come home with it that day. I really want to go for a more eco-friendly approach to detailing, when possible.

Thanks for checkin in, I haven't yet. Got really busy with holiday stuff and had my busiest December in 8 years and haven't found the time yet. I'm also used to using the customer's water, so it hasn't been a pressing need. I just keep 10 gallons or so for filling buckets in a pinch for rinseless if I need it for now.

Since the HHR is somewhat limited on space, I'm trying to find the best small pressure washer option since I'm almost out of space - there's enough space for sure, you just have to be smart with it. And I don't want to get a pump until I've got the washer, just to make sure it's all compatible. I'm probably leaning towards a SHURflo on-demand pump though, just not sure on the exact model. I'll be sure to put some pictures up as it comes along though.

Good luck with looking at that black one, is it a panel or regular? If you get it, post some pictures up and show it off. They are definitely a whole lot more fun to drive than the old Ford Exploders I had. :xyxthumbs:

Have you checked out any hand carry units, like AR's(electric) 600 series? They probably have about the same footprint as a traditional electric PW but, much shorter so takes up less volume. Not sure what one requires for inlet pressure, but any pump that puts out at least 3gpm should work.

Thanks man, I hadn't seen theirs yet, but they look like pretty good options. I'll take a closer look at them as they seem like they might be the leader right now. I really have to just pull the trigger on one of them. :xyxthumbs:

Yeah, I need to get one as well. I've just been waiting for my Marched to completely go, and keep price checking the AR 600s. They are one of the few that put out over 1300psi and have good flow(gpm), as well as adjustable pressure, while still being priced under $1000. They have several cold water models, as well as a hot water model(180°F). I think their cold models can still handle about 104°-140°F.
Glad I could help:)

I haven't used any AR PWs yet but have no doubt they are as reliable as Karchers. The two you linked are purely consumer grade models. While they will work, they are have limitations. After q few years of use you would probably be wishing you had bought a prosumer or professional model. One big draw back is that you can't use an output hose much longer that what hey come with or the pressure at the wand will drop significantly. If you aren't going to use a PW very often, then go with what you can afford, obviously. You can always upgrade if a lesser model isn't cutting it for what you do. The big pluses of the AR 600s, or similar brand/models, is that they are usually universal hoses, wands, and tips, and much more durable than consumer grade plastic specialty fittings and wands. Not trying g to sound like a salesman, just want to make sure you know the drawbacks of consumer grade models.

Thanks so much for the response, I read this and forgot to get back to you. No worries on sound like a salesman; like I mentioned, I'm a complete newb at pressure washing, so any information is good information.

My biggest issue is that I have limited space in HHR so I can't get anything too big. Was there an AR 600 model that was smaller that you were referring to? I can't seem to find one online. Thanks for the help, its appreciated.

Pressure washers direct is where I've found them. They have a great search tool and most of their products have a description/specs that tell you the dimensions as well as pressure, flow rate, and if they are adjustable for pressure, among other features. You can sort by brand and find all the AR pressure washers in one place.
