My own car - 1999 VW Passat 2.8 V6 4Motion (and usually the test bed for most products)

Not been online for a long time....so a little update..

So i had the check brake pads warning light up, so ended up getting all the pads and all the discs replaced, also the rear brake cable as well...the only downside was the front caliper seized :( so also had to get that replaced....resulting in:

So had to repaint it:

During bleeding, a crack was found in the brake fluid reservoir, so that was also replaced.

I also got the oil leak fixed by having the rocker gasket replaced.

Next on the list (well tomorrow), the front suspension arm is being replaced as dangerously worn. Im also having to look for new alloys as mine have corroded soo much they need replaced :( will keep this updated as and when i can :)

Fitted my new (to me) alloys. 18" R32 alloys:

Obviously before fitting the alloys were cleaned, polished and protected with Gtechniq C5/ExoV2.

Im very happy with the choice and think they suit the car well.

Thanks for looking

Decided to remove a few scratches inflicted by some local kids, also allowed me the chance to use my new sanding tool. The scratches were sanded down with 1200grit sanding paper by hand followed with 3000grit via machine, then 5 stage with Rupes Bigfoot (inc compounded and pads).

rear bumper (this was actually caused with a snowboard, cant blame kids for this one)

rear quarter panel scratched with a bike or something:

Finally the one on the passenger front door. This one was very deep, so did what i could do, but not perfect :(

not a massive update, but thanks for viewing anyway :)

Yesterday I notice the bass wasnt sounding great so had a look at the subwoofer to find this:

A bit gutted, after reading a few difference forums many suggestions was to stay away from the like of glue and use a clear sealant which i did:

Does look the best but the sound has massively improved, but in reality I think it really needs replace soon :(

Also got the car Air Con regassed, I thought my car was good until i was working on a Saab and it was ICE COLD in comparison. There was a deal on groupon to have it regassed for £25 so i went for it, not really having high expectation with it being an old car, but to my surprise the report back was the air con system was in great condition and the temp readings i cool were impressive from before:

Got to the extent had to actually use the climate control instead of "low" setting as it was too cold lol

Also took a quick video. I had applied Dodo Juice Supernatural Glass Sealant about 6 months ago and this was to show how it is still holding up whilst driving in the rain:

anyway thanks for viewing.

Next update

The steering was a little vague, so had it checked out and found out there was a lot of play within Lower Front Arm, Lower Rear Arm and the Drop Link...there was a little noise also from steering under acceleration.

Had all replaced and cost a small fortune :(

but now the steering is precise and sharp :)

Today a little more time spent on the car, after washing it as it was covered on oily finger prints from being in the garage I decided to work on the engine bay in particular the underside of the bonnet.

I polished with a Meguiars MF pad via a DA, then Applied Zaino Z2 Show Polish (Sealant) then topped with Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid:

Initially i was going to leave the insulation off, but reading up on the potential of heating the bonnet to a point the paintwork could be affected, i decieded to put it back on :(

Also tried some new (well actually old, that i had lying about) Angelwax for the alloys, smells amazing and left a really good wet finish :)

Today some new wax arrived:

So decided to apply to my car.

Initially, Cleaned the car then cleansed the paint with Dodo Juice Lime Prime:

I have not used Lime Prime in a long time as usually going from the like of Nanotech SST Super Gloss Nano polish to wax OR S40 to wax, real pleasure to use and forgot how it can just add little more to the paint :)

Applied the Angelwax Desirable 2 panels at a time and buffed, really easy to spread and a little certainly goes a long way. Once the whole car was done I left for 10 mins then buffed again with a clean MF. Very happy with the results:

What i did notice (or think i noticed, a bit like with Swissvax waxes) over time the finish seemed to get better and wetter, maybe im imagining it...who knows lol

With the paintwork looking soo good, applied some Gtechniq T1 to the tyres and cleaned the windscreen with Gtechniq G4 then applied Gtechniq G5 as i have a bottle here and never used it. So waiting for the rain thats meant to appear this weekend to see how it performs (as well at the Angelwax).

Thanks for viewing

Some beading pics since it rained (first time in what feels like months):

G5 on the screen:

Angelwax Desirable beading:

My recent update. I got an M3 style lip spoiler in the paint code for my car now bad for £27 :)

Now getting to the stage of thinking of debadging it would really clean up the rear a lot more.....

Today i did a deep interior cleanse. removing the seats:

Quick hoover:

I then cleanse the carpets with Autosmart Bio Brisk, aggregated with a brush then extracted the water. Carpets dried then protected with Gtechniq I1. Also cleaned and protected the interior trim with Dodo Juice Plastic Fantastic. The Alcantara was cleaned with Swissvax Alcanta and aggregated with a nail brush and pat dried with a microfiber. Then protected with Gtechniq I1. The leather was cleaned with Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Cleaner then protected with Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Sealant.

Really needing to replace the mats.
