My Perfect Tire Cleaner

Another post above kind of describes what I mean. It doesn't seem to get in there and start turning brown like others I have tried. With a brush, it just moves around without really doing anything. Tuf Shine, Bleche White, and others start pulling out dirt and dressing before I even start brushing.

That's strange, I always get brown to come off the tires before I even scrub. Try applying it to a dry tire. If you wet the tire first it will dilute the apc and won't be as effective.

I use d103 APC+ on tires wheels and wheel wells with great results. It took a few times before it got the tires as clean as I wanted and all the old product off, but now with the weekly maintenance it's a piece of cake! make sure your wheels are cool though, it will dry quick and look hoooorrrrible if you work on hot wheels.

I read that someone uses la's totally awesome for tires. I was at the dollar store looking at them and they have many cleaners. I seen gallon or half gallon jugs of totally awesome with citrus some with bleach and some with oxy. I want sure witch one was used by some for tires so I got the one that didn't have anything else in it. There was only a 20oz bottle of it. It was a kinda yellow color and had dilution ratios on the back so that's the one I got. It's that the right one? Or should I have gotten another kind

O and what should I dilute it to?

I noticed you didn't use this product on your wheels, is there a reason for that and do you have another product on your wheels? Also, it looks like your wheels are clear coated?
My wheels are painted black, kind of shiny but kind of matte too, stock Super Bee wheels, what do you recommend on those?
+1 on this. I have painted black XD Monster wheels and they are VERY hard to keep clean. The brake dust just wont come off. Will D101 work for this?

I think D101 is terrible on tires. I've tried it up to 3:1 and it just sits on top of the tire dressing and does not pull any dirt out. Tuf Shine is my favorite so far. I have a new bottle of OPC, but have not tried it yet. I use Zaino's tire dressing, so nothing silicone based and still had problems with it.

Try it full strength like he recommends instead of 3:1.

Exactly my thoughts. I felt like it wasn't penetrating the gunk at all & was just sitting on the surface.
As mentioned I felt like my brush was just sliding on a layer of APC, not actually reaching the surface of the tyre.
When I tried D108 it was worlds apart.
Tyre started turning brown before the brush even touched it & when I did brush it I felt like I was actually cleaning it.

Have heard people praise D101 before for cleaning tyres & thought I was the odd one out for not liking it.

I haven't tried D103 but it may be better than D101 due to the degreaser in it, although as KillaCam mentioned it doesn't foam...

You said you dilute it 4:1. He's recommending using D101 straight without dilution. You may like it if you try it without dilution.

Roshan, can u recommend a good solution for cleaning the rims?
Can i use the D101 to do it? I love Sonax wheel cleaner but here in Singapore they only it in 16.9oz bottle and it cost 24bucks! We can't get those in gallon bottle. So i'm thinking of shipping something cheap n good here.

My wheels don't get too dirty but yes I use D101 on them straight. They are clearcoated and I don't let the APC dry on them. I think straight is overkill for the wheels in terms of cleaning power if you clean your wheels once in a while.

The only reason I use it straight on the wheels is because I've been a bit lazy lately lol. Diluted 1:1 seemed to work great but as cheap as it is, I just didn't bother after testing it.

I didn't use D101 on the wheels in the video because I didn't want the APC to dry on the wheels because I was making a video on tire cleaning.

I tried this today using the Meg's APC. Worked very well. I was using Purple Power before, but I am now a convert to ihaveacamaro's method. Meg's APC foams up more than the Purple Power and the tire looks cleaner when finished.

I have tried everything except this. Usually after cleaning, my tires turn an ugly brown. I bought a bottle of Meg's #40 and will take it from there. Has anyone tried this?

Glad it worked out for you.

Has anyone else given it a try and wants to post feedback, good or bad?

I bought a gallon of the APC like you and boy am I glad :D full strength this stuff works better than anything else I've tried! And for the price, I can foam the tire up as much as I'd like to without feeling guilty! I'm also looking forward to trying it in other dilutions for different jobs :D

nice work :xyxthumbs:

Thanks :)

After watching the video (which is great), I split a gallon of D101 with a buddy to test it out this past weekend. My results weren't really in-line with what are shown in the video, but that could be for a number of different reasons, mainly my choice of dressing. For the baseline, my preferred APC is the Adam's APC and my dressing their SVRT.

I sprayed D101 at full strength through a foaming sprayer and let it dwell, scrubbed, no brown. Hmmm. I rinsed the tire and then followed up the D101 with my preferred APC. I let it dwell, scrubbed, saw a little brown. I'm not saying the Adam's APC cleaned any better than D101 because it honestly could have been leaching out of the tread grooves at that point.

My assertion is that D101 is great for cleaning dirty tires that are treated with PERL as shown in your video. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be as effective on the SVRT that I prefer. I do have PERL, but haven't used it on tires so I can't prove or disprove my theory. I'm willing to give it another shot on tires on another vehicle that do not have SVRT on them and see what happens. I'll have to see what my buddy reports from his testing.
