My solution to $150 foam guns...

oh something more for me to spend money on lol. So now to decide between a foam gun and a foam cannon. If I get a foam cannon I'm going to need a pressure washer. I'm going to go broke soon!
 
Just salvaged a Be pressure washer (6-hp Honda GC190). It's frigging powerful!

Now my questions: I put a couple ounces of XMT Gel Shampoo in the G-Clean, topped up with water, and let 'er rip. It produced a strong jet of foam that went everywhere, but wasn't particularly thick or clingy. Also, the reservoir emptied before I could coat my tiny clown car. How do I control the foam thickness as well as the application rate?
 
There are 2 adjustment controls. The nozzle rotates to adjust the pattern, and above the reservior has a flow lever, back is off, forward is full foam. I always start in the back position, and just bump it till I get the amount of foam I'm looking for. Hope this helps.
 
Hrmmm. I knew about the controls but for some reason they had little effect on the quality of the foam. The instructions (and some posts here) mention it works with PWs "up to 4000 psi" but maybe I should dial my pressure way back?
 
The soap may also have a slight effect on foaminess. How much foam is really needed? I foam as a prewash, let sit a couple minutes, then rinse with clean water and begin my normal wash routine.

I used to do the same thing but later found it to be counter productive. I never believed in the foam lifting the dirt off the surface and a normal rinse with water never left any scratches in my experience.

What I do is rinse the car then spray the foam on and that helps prevent marring from the friction of the wash mitt and paint. Even a wash mitt wet with soap still drags on dry paint which worries me the most.

you won't get thick or clingy foam with the G-clean. It's the reason I keep saying don't even bother with it and get the MTM Hydro (look a few posts above).
 
I'll likely get that in the spring. Yesterday we hit 70° for probably the last time until April. Today it's a more-normal 40° so I'm back to ONR washes in the garage.
 
Home Depot manager told me there stores will no longer carry the G clean sprayer? They had all the foam blaster liquids on close out for $2.00. Alabama Area
 
I have the green G clean from Home Depot and have exactly the same experience as others - very weak foam and no matter how I adjust it it goes through soap like crazy. Even when going full soap the foam hardly dwells on the car.

A waste of $19. I'll look to a hose mounted foam gun next since I think the high pressure from my washer and hard water hurts the potential for foam. Plus it is a bit cheaper!
 
Seen this post today and went on the hunt for one at my two local hd and no luck both store do not carry them . Before i put in an online order that is 19.99 i would just like to know is this foam gun worth it . poll>>>>
