Over time it has become apparent that my teenage son has an addiction... If he comes home with another random car I am just not sure how I will react. His addiction started off fairly innocently. However, the gates have opened and it is starting to get serious. What is the best way to treat this sickness:doh::doh:? Scroll down for for evidence. Is there a support group for this kind of affliction ?:grouphug:

LOL So Cool to see your son into detailing cars!! He is a talented detailer. It is better than him getting into his phone or xbox for a hobby!

Congrats and I would be proud.

I think he has gone off the deep end. It is spring in Ohio, mid seventies and sunny at 6:30 AM Saturday, I heard the garage door open and he was gone before I could talk to him. I found these in his laundry. When and if he comes home at a reasonable hour I will have to confront him.I think this has been going on for over a year he is never home always doing something with cars. He has started going down a path that I do not support. I mean really a "swirl factory" as a job? I am sure he is just trying to feed his addiction but this is unacceptable. He certainly knows better!:argue:

Be supportive my dad isn't too supportive of my detailing!

Hey, your lucky your son is addicted to cars and not drugs. You should be so proud.:props:

Real cool. Another Mike Phillips in the making.

Even with all of the "Just Say No" campaigns, some of them fall through the cracks and unfortunately there is not much you you can do except be there to help. I myself am a recovering addict. It has been three days since my last polish. My wife keeps finding paraphernalia all over the garage and laundry room as well as other nooks, crannies and hiding places. She even found my micro fiber towels in the washer the other day. I was embarrassed because she thought I was doing better.
I plan to fall off the wagon again tomorrow afternoon. ;)

One whiff of any car shampoo and your hooked.

I feel like an enabler. I made the mistake of leaving all my detailing products just sitting around in plain view, and next thing I know my stuff is disappearing. I think my APC is watered down to what ratio I don't know, tire coating just gone. I found the optimum wash in his shower with a microfiber. What was I thinking? Just the other day he asked if the guzzler towels come in bath size. Really?

OHHH, I think an intervention will be required.

Possibly a trip to Stuart FL to see the grand master?

Otherwise, there is some fine 'iron' your son has been dragging home. Kinda like, "It followed me home, can I keep it PLEEEEZE? "

Bill

Sort of reminds me of when my neighbor asked my nephew ( he was about 12 at the time ) to wax his fairly new Lincoln or Cadillac ). He did it for him. Just didn't wash it first.

Well we all know an addict can never be cured completely. Maybe the Detailer Whisperer can bring balance to him. When we walk through mall parking lots and begin to get the shakes due to seeing the swirls everywhere, it can raise blood pressure and cause other psychological issues.

I am predicting a steady flow of cars in my garage this spring. He says they all need a good bath, polish wax and detail. Before he can take 'em out.The weekly shows are on Tuesdays and he likes to mix it up. Claims he can't take the same car two weeks in a row. He gets bored!:buffing:
