What I am about to say is based on my own opinion. I bought a bottle of System One and it was not given to me.

I did two tests with system one, both of which were done on a '96 4Runner with single stage red paint. Both used same pads and same machine (Flex 3403)

The first was on the hood of the vehicle.
I compared S1 to 106ff since that seemed to be what everyone compared it to being a FP.
So did passes with LC yellow pads and then with white LC pads. Doing the same amount of passes and same speed.
I did about 10 passes with yellow pad then 10 passes with white pad.
And my first conclusion is that S1 is better than 106ff in this arena, not by a land slide but enough to convince me to replace my 106 with S1.

The second test was SIP and an orange lo pro pad, vs the 2 step S1 of a wool pad and a white foam pad.
I hit half a door with the SIP/Orange pad combo and it did remarkably well, not 100%, but good.

Then I hit the other side of the door with S1 and purple wool pad, then white lc pad... and well the side with the SIP combo was alot better, more shine and wetness, I then went over S1 side with the SIP combo, and it made better results.

My conclusion is this, S1 is a good polish, but not great. If the abrasives are only one size then the polish must be pad dependant. And a pad can only do so much of the cutting, if you have deep scratches you need something to go before the pad to cut the clear coat, ie power gloss compound, with the heavy abrasives.

Again, this is just my personal review of this product, take it for what it's worth. And ?'s are welcome, but I don't want to start a war of any sort.

Thanks for the review! So, S1 actually finished better than nano? WOW, now that's interesting I wonder if the results would be the same on a 2 stage paint, especially one with hard CC.

+1

Menzerna made these polishes for ceramic (anti-scratch) clear coats like on BMWs, Mercedes, ect... that would be an interesting comparison

Thank you for taking the time to do this review for us... and I will second that.... there will NOT be a war. This is an opinion and lets be thankful for that. Did you have time to take pics for us? (I know I am being pushy LOL)

i do have pics, but i don't know if its me and my non-pic taking abilities, or that because its single stage paint, but pics don't show comparison better than naked eye

if i remember correctly, S1 is based off the same nano-technology

Not the "same" technology... S1 is non-diminishing while 106 is diminishing, right?

Thanks. Appreciate your review and respect your opinion. That was interesting.

Thanks for the review. I wonder how the test would fair on a clearcoated finish? Isn't that what each product more or less caters to/is mostly used on?

Thanks for making that clear; So it finished better then 106ff interesting indeed.

I will be doing a full review of system one in the future. We just sampled it on a black Porsche Carrera and found similar experice + a couple of things....

DUST like crazy, I mean I have never had a product cover an entire car in dust in seconds. Once the pad became 'wet' it would leave globs of product and had to be picked off with my finger nail.

As far as finishing gloss, it was very nice, but no matter how we tried, we would get very light holograms. Over all, it corrected pretty well, but was the messiest polish I have every used.

U wanna know what's weird, when I did the test on the hood, it didn't dust at all, worked like a dream.

But when I did the test on the door... it didn't dust with the wool pad, but when I hit the door with the white foam pad POOF, it started snowing in my garage... and I can't for the life of me think why it did that. Maybe my pad wasn't clean enough and it reacted to whatever was in the pad??? I'm pretty sure on the hood I used a new Yellow and new white pad, but on the door the pad was an old one (properly cleaned) but old

Because of the dusting issue, I am still on the fence with system 1. You can keep the area and pad wet with water to keep the dust down. System 1 corrects nicely but I don't like dust at all. Especially aluminum oxide.

I don't think the product is to blame for dusting. Just like every other polish out there, there is a learning curve. I have not used S1 yet but I'm sure there is a technique that'll reduce the dusting -- ie more or less product, working it in less / more time, etc. Finding the 'happy spot' will probably take a lot of time for experimentation, unless someone knows specifically what it takes to reduce the dusting.

this is true...i spend 6 hours 2 days ago trying to get ...

1. the splatter down (this stuff is watery)

2. the dust down (mixed with water, and spray wax) still dust alot

Budman is right, when I used system one I did not have that much trouble with splatter or dusting. But I always work in my polish for a bit before turning on the machine... this is true for all liquid products. I also find if you use a pad conditioner or something else with your pads it will help a lot too. Results will vary is a disclaimer all products should have, we all approach a job with different tricks or techniques so results will be different. Lets all keep that in mind, try it, if you like it great, if it doesn't work for you, there are a 100 more to try! :buffing:
:righton:

o i still like the polish alot...just like said before there is a learning curve ..and like in the menzerna thread..it depends what conditions are when you are using it
