My thoughts: Menzerna Power Lock vs Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant

I got 4 months with power lock on my dd with one coat and not a lot Of maintenance up keep. with 2 coats and regular maintenance I'm sure it would've lasted 6+ months

...I would like verification of the above by AG staff members AND other long time forum members who may have experience with using each product multiple times...not just a single use.

As regards durability Menzerna Powerlock already has a reputation (at least on this forum) of lasting and lasting. Having used BFWDPS on ONE occasion certianly isn't proof that the product does, or does not have lasting ability, but I was not impressed...at all.

You have to be careful with the prep. I have found to get much better durability using BFWD or PowerLock on completely bare paint, rather than using the blackfire Pre-wax cleaner first. Carpro eraser is a better prep product for these polymer sealants IME, as long as your paint is very clean and contaminant free, rather then blackfire gloss enhancing polish.

In my experience so far, yes. Starts out with insane slickness and beading, then as the slickness dissipates, it goes to more of a sheeting effect rather than beading. After 6 months on one car and 7 months on another, never got to the point where water sat flat on the paint. To me that says there is still some protection there even with some changes in the hydrophobic characteristics. I do top with BFCS every 3 months, which probably helps the longevity also.

If i understand things correctly, the slickness if from the oil's sitting atop the paint coating (wax,sealant), as it cant be from the cross linking polymers, otherwise you would have to wait 12 hours or so for them to fully cure (crosslink) to feel the slickness.

You get a similar effect from wax's. For example I will use Dodo Juice. Their hard wax's leave the paint feeling smooth but not very slick immediately after application, but their soft wax's leave the paint feeling incredibly slippery and slick immediately after buffing. Over time and weather this slick feeling diminishes away.

the real question is how. maybe evaporates ? (carrier oils/solvents ?)

Same can be said for very permanent or high durability semi-permanent coatings (sans pinnacle, DP), No oil's introduced to the paintwork leaves a very grabby, non slick feel.

Power Lock like any sealant needs time to cure 8hrs is best I apply 2 coats to my car waiting 8 hours in between coats.
