My truck's system....

Yeah, this one was a Tremor Edition. Had a 10 in a plastic box firing down. Pioneer headunit as well as 5x7s all the way around. Not bad.......for factory. If I was going to use their wiring, it would be a pain. Since I'm doing kickpanels, I will be using my own speakewire. I even bring in my own power for the headunit. I just push the factory harness back. I don't like using 24AWG wire for power....even for a headunit.

I've down a alot of Fords that had an amp. Sucks.
Tell me about it, I had to call Sound Advice here and the second I said Ford Explorer they were like "yup, their a pain in the ass" lol. But the way the amp was situated was so awkward, only way to remove it would have been to unbolt the rear seating, and tear the cargo area apart to get that one panel off. The amp was at the bottom in front of the wheel well. I had to rerun wires to it, then back again to teh amps and it worked. Gotta love Ford engineers lol, on my 5.0 V8 in the truck, they put the PCV on the rear block of the engine at like an upside down angle that you cannot reach, what a bright idea lol.

The BOSE (aka BLOWS to use car stereo nuts!) system in the old 300ZXs were a pain. Each speaker had it's own amp at the speaker. Talk about sucking!!!

I heard bose (maybe it was mark levingston sp?) were the hardest factory installed systems to replace. :( How do you get your pioneer at cost?

Our Lexus LX470 has the Mark Levinson stereo, pry the best sounding factory setup I've heard, I'm sure with all the electronics and amps etc it would be a pain as well.

Well even if it is the best factory system you have heard, what would you rate it 1-10? Then what would you rate your experience on aftermarket systems 1-10? I am guessing aftermarket is considerably better.

Compared to other factgory systems, it's a 10 easily, sounds even better then some cheaper aftermarket setups I've heard (I'm just talking basic setup, door speakers and an ok amp and subs), it's not "pounding" loud but really clear sounding. That said, my previous setup blew it away, no contest, but I also had it tuned for SQ and had around 1500 watts, that was one loud and clear sounding mofo lol, most of the truck was dynomatted. It's all how you tune it, like my last one I had crossovers for each kick panel, crossover for door speakers and my sub amp had controls that worked perfect for matching when bridged for power.

You don't need to spend much today, geta good deck like Alpine, Eclipse, Pioneer etc, decent amps, door speakers and subs and that's it, you don't have to spend all the money on products like I did on my last system. If anything, I want to keep my next system simpler, just a nice unit, new door speakers, and a 5 way amp to power them and a nice sub. You can have a nice setup easily for under 1K, heck you can go cheaper and still have a great sounding system. Like Justins, Alphasonik isn't expensive but they build high quality amps and I'm sure their sub like Justin has is equaly as good.

Next time around I'll pry go with RE or Adire Brama subs, they are incredible sounding. I never competed, just liked systems, so I've been out of it for awhile, having brainfarts on makes that I knew of.

OK, I will take one. When can you put in my truck? I need something for my news talk radio! J/K the wife would kill me! :D
Looks like a nice system!

There are some very good factory sound systems these days. But it really depends on what you want. For instance I have the Mach 460 system in my Mustang. Not sure what brand, but it runs 2 factory amps in the trunk with 4 very nice speakers. It's really nice for my needs. A LOT of bass, especially with no sub.

The Mach 460 is pretty decent for what it is I just hate that ford used a 6 ohm set up. When you try and use different speakers commonly 4 omh speakers it doesn't let you until you by-pass the amp.

Haha, I was gonna mention that and then I got distracted. Yea, the Mach system's are very tough to work with, very.

Mach 460 is in my wife's car. So you can not up grade the speakers?

I'm under 1000.00 for EVERYTHING. You do not have to spend alot. 90% of price is name in the car audio business.

I still have the original AC Delco/Bose system in my 22 year old vette. It use to sound ok but it sounds pretty bad now. It does not even have a CD player. I don't drive the car that much but I have been thinking about replacing the system. Any sugguestions.

Have you seen new Audi S8? Bang & Olufsen advanced sound system is what I believe they call it. Nearly 1100 watts of power. And that's factory.Im the MAN :awesome:

Mach 460 in the 96-04 Stang? Just making sure it's not a 05+.

You can replace the speakers, but then I believe you also have to either bypass the factory amps or completely re-wire and do some trick with the amps or simply get new ones.

As eluded to earlier, the system runs at 6 ohms and a rare and odd choice. There's been many many instances where people have replace the speakers and then blow the factory amps and/or new speakers immediately.
