Nanoskin Mega Trend

Alright, so an update. I added another coating in to the mix, and that is IGreenLover Quartz. I put it in the center of the hood, and separated Mega Trend, and CQUK. I have been washing, since the last update with Ultima WW+ as a waterless, and ONR as a Rinseless, when needed, but yesterday, I decided to do a very in depth clean. To keep up with testing ONLY the coatings, not the toppers, there have been no waxes, or sealants applied since the initial application.

I foamed the car with CG Mr. Pink(got it for $4 on sale, and worth the $4 but wouldn't buy again)mixed with Iron-X( didn't see any bleeding, so I believe that was a waste). I then rinsed the car, then washed with 1oz of CarPro Reset in 3 Gallons of water (2BM), then rinsed, then Iron-X on the whole car(I saw more contaminants on the CQUK side), then Clayed the car with a Nanoskin fine grade sponge, with Glide as the lube, then rinsed, and washed again with Reset to give me a perfectly clean surface.

I'll let the video speak for itself, but I am still blown away by Mega Trend, and I am offering it still

The customer service issue was resolved, and I'll definitely buy Nanoskin items still, as they are great products.

The roof still looks, and performs great, on both sides, the sides, there is definitely dagredation on the CQUK side, but none visible on the Mega Trend side, and on the hatch, there is heavy degradation on both sides.
 
I know my mega trend has only been on for 8 months now but my ride is still slick,glossy,beads and sheets like crazy. Good stuff!

Thanks for the update Eric, the video speaks for itself. Obviously, the hydrophobicity of the Mega Trend is superior, but what about the scratch resistance and UV protection? Can we assume it's leaps and bounds better than the other two as well?
 
UV protection, I'm not sure, as I'll have to figure out a way to test that. Scratch resistance, I think is mostly a gimmick with coatings, at least in real world use, BUT I did run a screwdriver across the hood lightly, and did see some difference between the coatings. It definitely scratched all 3, but a little less on the Mega Trend side. I'll try to get a picture.
 
I tried getting a picture of the scratch, and took a wire brush to it, but it looked identical across the hood. I can tell you that it is a much harder coating once cured. I kept the applicators, and it is a night and day difference between Mega Trend and the other coatings. the only coating that has come close is CQuartz DLUX, and Mega Trend is still harder( For whatever it is worth to anyone)
 
Just looked at AG Nanoskin but saw no MegaTrend for sale. Does anyone know why AG no longer sells megatrend?
 
It appears they blew out the stock they had, and either haven't re-ordered it, or are not going to carry it again :( You can still order it directly from Nanoskin if you'd like. That is what I am doing.
 
I think it's significant (if this is the case) that you're able to use a Nanoskin fine grade sponge and not mar the Subaru paint. That alone shows an increase in scratch resistance, because that process would normally mar the paint.
 
I guess for me, who cares how "hard" it is if it doesn't protect against scratching? It's just confusing to me that something can be that hard but still get scratches with relative ease. It still has tremendous qualities, it's just a disappointment from a newbie on the outside who thought these coatings were there for scratch resistance, when that doesn't seem to have ever been the case, misinformed over here lol

The main purpose of a coating has never been to resist scratches. The main purpose of a coating is having a very durable form of protection that is chemical resistant and will last longer than a sealant.

This is great for people who can't easily wax or seal a car (people who live in apartments, college students). By having something on the paint that releases dirt easily, that in itself will prevent scratches.

If you take care of your car properly, the only marring will be micromarring, something that a fine polish will remove.

People have mentioned that coatings such as Cquartz have helped their soft paint prevent micromarring, but there's still never an excuse for not taking care of your car properly.
 
Ok, if you have the ability to seal your car at the correct intervals, then what is the recommendation in that instance? I'm trying to justify the cost of the coating when I just bought reload and wash my garaged car every one to two weeks.
