Tried to do some searching but apparently failing at the search box lol.

So I need a recommendation for a car wash solution and a clay.

Car wash:
Currently am using Pinnacle bodywork shampoo (came with my SSII kit). I'm looking at either the Optimum one (the actual wash, already have ONR) or the Dodo BTBM. Of course I'm open to suggestions.

Clay:
Currently using Mother's because I needed it fast and it was local. In the past I'd been debating either the XMT speed clay, or the Pinnacle ultra poly. I only plan to clay twice a year so the pinnacle might be too mild since it's designed to be used often and not take off wax according to the product page?

Go with the DoDooooo...the new "clay alternative" (Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System) sounds great....on BOGO now....

My current fav is the Optimum (bought another gallon) car wash but have not tried the Dodo. Cost per wash is reasonable, smells good, good suds and lubricity. You might want to also try DG 901 and Ultima as you try new car washes. I think that Optimum Car Wash was available as a sample if you wanted to give it a shot too.

I have not tried Mother's, XMT or Pinnacle clays. I use fine clay from other vendors if that helps.

Car Wash soap would recommend the DG 901. I still have not found a clay that I'm in love with, The XMT stuff is very soft and a bit sticky, the Pinnacle is very mild. Those are the ones I have other than OTC Mothers that so far I like best.
The Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System that's on BOGO right now is interesting for sure! I think if I were to be looking for a clay now I would try that instead.

I too am torn on what car wash to get. Just about out of my bottle of Meg.

I have Dodo BTBM and Optimum Car Wash, love them both. I'm in Sacramento too if you want a sample. :xyxthumbs:

There are new (to me) car washes that I haven't tried, but these are ones that are excellent IMO:
DG 901
Optimum
PB Super Slick and Suds (just got reacquainted and my new fav. again).

I think I'm going to pick up the BTBM this time around (the 250ml). I've been seeing a lot of praise for it around here lately :)

Still debating which clay to go with.

My favorite car wash is Duragloss 901...

I have Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo and this has to be the mildest car wash soap available anywhere. I really like the smell, coconut, and it works on only the mildest of contamination. While I haven't tried it yet I'll bet this would work well as a hair and body wash....

I use both Meguiar's and Mothers. Mothers clay is available over the counter and works very well. Neither are an aggressive clay however both remove embedded particles, leftover wax and sealants....:props:

Yeah they seem to always come in the kit form though. I don't really need to pay "extra" for a QD "clay lube" though since I already have ONR for that. I haven't checked though, maybe AG carries just plain clay from them, but if I'm going to buy it from AG I figure I might as well look at all the options :)

I agree, I wish it were available separate.

Mothers is targeting the over the counter consumer and this means supplying the customer with a complete kit to guarantee success...

I would go with either OPT car wash or the Dodo BTBM. Both are exceptional products. As far as clays...the Megs OTC is good while even a "kit" it is still cheaper than other clay bars that are sold in non kit form. DP makes a good clay bar that is a bit more aggressive than some others while still being gentle to the finish.

Thanks guys, maybe I'll just pick up another Mother's clay kit then. The "free" microfiber with purchase would be nice to get another one.

Since you already have a mild clay I'd give the DP Clay a go. As staed above a little more aggressive but not overly so. I feel that I could use it a couple of times per year.

I have to agree with the DR. On this one as far as clay goes.....I like DG901....but the others he mentioned is worth a try and are very good!
