Need a deeper clean, just don't want to claybar

What are the options for a "deeper" clean beyond a hand wash but not as in depth as a claybar? My '15 F100 has that slightly rough, not silk smooth feel. This is after washing and using Chemical Guys Butter Wet wax the other night. Is there a recommended cleaner that will help remove a lot of the crud sitting on the top coat?

FWIW, a few years ago I bought McGuiars Ultracut 105 and 205, and a Griots Random Orbital Polisher for another car. Could one or both Ultracut be used with minimal risk (swirls, halos, ...)?

Its been a while since I've read up on detailing, I've forgotten a lot of the techniques. I do remember that things like clay bar were very effective. Truth is, I just don't have the time right now.

Thanks!

Since you have a wax/sealant on the paint not a coating, just be prepared to go back over and redo your LSP.

What I would do and do in situations like this, is wash and then go with an attempt to chemically remove the tree sap or fall out first. I use SuperClean De greaser in the purple bottles first. I usually removes any sap or tar, etc. then do a baggie test. From there, Iron-X, which it never hurts to use anyway, and again, test. If for any reason those don't work, I use a blower to clear away the water then use a MF Rag that I spray liberally with CarPro Eraser and load up with 3M Adhesive remover and gently wipe. That always does the trick and when done safely it won't mar the paint. It will however do a number on the LSP. Finally, I wash with CarPro Reset and see how my coating is performing. Waxes or Sealants will for sure be removed.

While Scott can be a little long winded I think he makes a good point in this video--Purple Power Heavy Duty Premium Vehicle and Boat Wash Concentrate has a PH of 10, is very slick, rinses freely and only costs about .06 cents per oz ($7.84/gallon at Walmart).

^^ I use this product for my customer cars when they come to me for a detail. It's cheap $$, works great and is an awesome lube for my nano sponges. Does a great job.

Funny, I was just using the regular Purple Power from Walmart on my tires the other day. Had to apply it a few times as it never really got all the dirt out, they're not that bad. Never thought you could use it on the whole car(!) Do I have to get the "Vehicle/Boat" version or can I use what I have? Will it remove some of the roughness I feel on my hood (road grime, sap, etc.), or is that where the clay bar towel/mitt comes in?

What's LSP again?

This thread is going to cost me some $$ (lol). Here's whats on the shopping list so far:
  • Foam cannon or foam gun. Not sure, I'm sure the cannon works better (with a pressure washer). But not sure if I want to drag out my pressure washer everytime I wash mine and my wifes car. Either way, I like the new approach to washing.
  • Meguiar's M0616 Mirror Glaze Cleaner Wax, 16 Ounce. This was mentioned in one of the articles linked above. Good reviews. Planning on doing this 1x a year.
  • Chemical Guys BUFX_104_HEX5 Hex-Logic Light-Medium Polishing Pad, White (5.5 Inch)
  • Iron X or similar
  • Nanoskin (AS-005) AutoScrub 12" x 12" Medium Grade Towel
    OR
  • Nanoskin AS-015 Autoscrub 7" x 7" Handy Towel
    OR
  • Eagle One 850789 Surface Prep Mitt
    OR
  • ABN Clay Bar Wipe 6” Medium Grade DA Polisher Pad for Cars

^^^ Really not sure which one (or two) I'll buy. Any advice?

LSP = Last Step Product or whatever you are going to use as protection. In your case Meguires Mirror Glaze Cleaner Wax is your LSP.

"Do I have to get the "Vehicle/Boat" version or can I use what I have?"

From Scott's comments about the vehicle version rinsing well and being very slick I would say yes -- get the vehicle version. Just a note of caution -- I would not want to use this soap more than once or twice a year.

If you're only doing you own cars and want to save some $$$ I find these very effective-- Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Sponge Combo Pack You don't have to buy both of them --- only $12.99 each.

I don't use a foam gun, but I do drag out the pressure washer when the car is really dirty--removes all the gritty dirt before washing-- then I only use one bucket and after washing the entire car there is very, very little dirt below the grit guard--you could almost save the wash water for another wash, but I don't.

My only issue with this product (I’ve used about half a gallon) is the fact it smells absolutely horrible imo, and the dilution is recommended at 6oz per gallon, which is ludicrous lol.

It does seem to clean fairly well though, all things considered.

I think Scott from Dallas Detailing recommends 2-3 oz per gallon. At .06 per oz it's still pretty inexpensive.

Yeah, it’s definitely not gonna break the bank or anything.

I remember the first time I read the label though I was like man.. they couldn’t make it more concentrated? Lol

Granted, I bought it for one persons car I see monthly that is always super bad. So I can’t really complain.
