Hello, after a little research I have decided on purchasing a leaf blower for drying my car. I have no idea on what type I should get other than it must be electrical. How powerful should it be to dry the entire car? What brands are reliable? Are some blowers quieter than others? I know their are many members out there that use these, are there any tips or cautions that I should know about?

I've got the Troy Bilt TB180B from Lowes for about $35 and have been very happy with it.

I have a 7.5 amp Craftsman. Most any will do fine, Toro, B-D etc. Make sure to watch out when comming down off the roof as to not hit your hood or truck. (Dont ask how I know this ;) )

I forgot to mention, one thing I did was lined the end of mine with Mole skin. That way if I do bump it against the vehicle it's less likely to scratch, some fine felt or similar would provide protection also.

I bought this Troy-Bilt from Lowe's 3 years ago and have been very pleased with it. If memory serves me correctly I think I paid about $50.00 for it....

I picked up a Toro 51599 from HD wed. and it blew water off the truck great.

What's the sound level like on the Troy-bilt?

Since I turn mine upside down (should have installed the nozzle upside down) it's pretty loud, I usually wear ear protection with mine. But turned normally not horrible.

BobbyG influenced me to get the same one he has. I bought a cheaper one prior to, and I got what I paid for. Took it back the next day and got the one BobbyG posted. It works great. I like the different handles as you can turn it over to get the roof.

You're going to want to get ear protection. I got these from Sears but Lowes carries them as well:

Shop 3M Tri-Flange Reusable Corded Earplugs at Lowes.com

I have been using a cordless leafblower. I use it for around the the front grill, mirrors, door jambs and hood areas. I then use my micro-fiber towels to finish off.

Use something to cover tip to reduce marks if you hit car.

Use cordless for blowing out garage and front porch.

Different brands, I have Black&Decker.

Just my 2cents

I really like the one that BobbyG has, with the twin handles, but I can not find that model. Does anyone know the model #? I cannot find it on Lowes website. Also that's a great tip to cover the end of it to protect your vechicle.

I don't think they have it on the website. I remember looking for it and not finding it. I'll check the model number when I get home.

It looks exactly like the CQ one.

thinking the same thing... on the CG Video they mention the new model being an upgrade (multiple speed settings), so i am assuming the original was a single speed like the model HD carries?

Ill be the quiney pig and check it out. I may buy it and then return it just to give it a try. I dont really have money to spend on a blower..

I have the JETSPEED as well only because I am limited with space when I do mobile details. So far I like it. It comes with extra motor brushes just in case the others go bad.

I not only use mine for exterior but interior as well. Blow under the seats and crevaces, vacuum, then go over it with the mytee.

Maybe when I get a truck I will buy a full size blower.
