Need advice on car buying

Santa Fe, I test drove the 2.0 Turbo two weeks ago, very nice and excellent ride.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee would be my choice from the list. One of the best deals you will find these days is a 2013 Nissan Rogue AWD for $19.995. One of the best quality small Suv's is the Honda CR-V AWD

I have an 11 edge. It's been great no issues at all and very quiet on the road. I like the Jeep Grand Cherokee it's been getting good reviews.
My wife had a Hyundai when we met. It was the most unreliable car I've ever had to work with. Not to mention how cheap it just felt from the doors closing to overall build quality. I personally won't go near a Hyundai.

My username is actually what I own, a Hyundai Genesis Coupe. I like it so much it's my 2nd one ! Hyundai has changed everything, I used to tell myself that I would never own one but fast forward few years and I'm on my 2nd. Not a single issue ever.

Back on topic. I've narrowed it down to Jeep or the Hyundai. More towards the Jeep though.

Cars are really inexpensive that side of the pond!

Example:

US - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, USD 30.000, per your indication;
Portugal - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, starting at USD 103.630 (SRT - USD 177.020). These are prices without any options...

Like Ron Paul says: "Don't steal - the government hates competition!"

Hello All,

We are looking to find a replacement for our 2010 Toyota Matrix. My mom misses having an SUV so here are the options -Not in any particular order;

1. 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee ($30,000)
2. 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe ($27,000)
3. 2013 Ford Edge ($27,000)
4. 2013 Ford Escape ($24,000)

The car has to be a base model with AWD/4x4.

What is everyone's opinions on these cars and which one out of those is your pick?

Thanks! :dblthumb2:

I would never buy a Jeep, they are always at the low end of reliability compared to other manufacturers.

Hyundai has come a ways in the last several years. They offer one of the best warranty's and are at the top of a lot of reviewers picks. The santa fe is really nice for the price.

Not a for fan but the edge looks nice. But for me that's too much for what you get.

I've heard mainly good things about the escape.

I'm a huge fan of imports, simply because the majority are cheap, reliable and easy/cheap to fix.

Any thoughts of getting more of a crossover? Like the crv, rav4 or rogue?

^^

A CRV, Rav4, Rogue, Murano, Equinox, Terrain were a thought but we narrowed it down to those three.

In the end, it all comes down to what my mom likes the most.

I want her to get the Jeep because i want to have some fun in the winter with the 4x4, but a Santa Fe or Edge will fit her personality the most.

I'd go w/ the Sante Fe as its got a long warranty and comes with a lot of features standard, most band for the buck and its really sharp looking! The Escape would be my next choice and that's it as far as the choices go. Surprised the CR-V or new Rav4 aren't on the list though!

Gas mileage a factor at all?

I guess I would take them all for a test drive and decide.

Also, the Jepp is nice but the reliability factor is huge for me.

^^ Gas mileage is a 4/10 importance. My mom drives about 6-8 thousand miles a year.

I'd go with the Edge, but I'm a Ford Fan.

I would go with the Hyundai.

Jeep size; Jeep or Santa Fe.
Escape size; Mazda CX-5 or '14 Subaru Forester XT

I know an owner of a Jeep dealership so i hope to get a good discount, and if it's worth it the Jeep will be the winner, however if i can't get the Jeep at a Santa Fe price, the Santa Fe wins.

Santa Fe. 10 year warranty. It's really nice and has plenty of good reviews as well.

I went over to my local Hyundai dealer for some maintenance work and asked the service guys what would they get, all 3 replied Grand Cherokee! ..That came off as a little surprise since it's a full on Hyundai dealership but i suppose that puts the Cherokee on the top list.

I wonder what the service guys at the Jeep dealership would say.
