Need some quick advice, I am going to purchase the Porter Cable starter kit and was wondering what type of waxes I should purchase. The vehicles I plan to use this on are 2011, 2008 2006 and 2003, all finishes are in good shape, as I wash and wax regularly.
I was thinking about using the following products:
· 12 oz. XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze
· 12 oz. XMT Fine Swirl Remover #2
· 12 oz. XMT Ultra Fine Swirl Remover #1

Suggestions welcomed.
Thanks!

First things first; :welcome: To Autogeek Online! :dblthumb2:

You have quite a fleet of vehicles lined up!

Washing and waxing is what we all do / did to our cars before we realized what we should be doing to keep them looking their best.

The basic steps are in order;

  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Compound
  • Polish
  • Seal
  • Wax
Claying is an important step after washing especially on a finish that's never had it done. One way to tell is the baggie test...

Once you're through washing and drying, take a new plastic sandwich bag and slip your hand inside it. Now with almost no pressure place your fingertips on the finish and glide it across and you'll feel a slight pulling as the embedded particles will grab at the plastic.

This is the dirt and e,bedded debris from 1/2 the hood on a 2011 Hyundai Elantra..

Pinnacle XMT has some nice paint correction products and those combined with the correct pads and a dual action polisher will really make those vehicles finishes pop!

Sealant

Sealants are a great way to protect all the work you've just done. One of my favorites is Menzerna Power Lock.

Wax

For waxes I like Collinite 845 and Collinite 915. Both leave your vehicles finish wet looking and will protect them for 4 to months..:props:

Nothing wrong with XMT, or keeping to one brand/line when starting out to get a feel. Were you meaning Wolfgang Finishing Glaze?

Consider XMT360 instead of #1. Products are similar in correction. #1 must be topped with something. XMT360 contains a wax/sealant that saves a step. (you can top it if you wish)

I find this chart very helpful:

My error, sorry for the confusion, I plan on using the polishes then the wax. I did not want to purchase a polish which might be too agressive

:welcome: frank213.
XMT #2, and XMT #1 are so close in the finish they'll give you that I'll make a suggestion that will give you more options. Change the XMT #1 to XMT 360 as was suggested above.
here are your options:
XMT #2- XMT Carnuba Glaze-Top with a carnuba wax (Maxwax is excellent).
XMT 360-Top with a carnuba wax or another sealant or stand alone.
(XMT Glaze is my favorite smelling product. Grape.)
