Need buying advice: Some SMAT better than M205 for soft paint

what is SMAT and DAT?

super micro abrasive technology and diminishing abrasive technology

basically it's the size of the crystal that does the work. All crystals break down in reality but SMAT abrasives start out much finer than DAT.

Small crystals cut the same amount right from the get go so you can stop whenever you feel like it when doing your section pass and the results will be the same.

Like the name implies, diminishing abrasives start out bigger and need to be worked longer so they break down. If you stop working them too soon, then you might get some marring because the crystals are still too big. This is why CCS pads may not be the best choice for DAT polishes. Some of the polish gets trapped in the pockets and doesn't get the chance to break down at the same rate as the rest of the polish.

I saw some threads people saying that Optimum Polish II is around PO203 cut ability... what do you think about it ?
Also how well does it finishes compared to 85RD or m205 on soft paints ?
It cuts very well and finishes great. I often dont need the Finishing Polish. I havent used the product you mentioned. I prefer Optimum over the Menzerna Twins.

But have you ever used Polish II on a very soft paint ?

Very well stated!

Get both! :props:

LoL.....
I have almost full bottles of 32oz from: M105 / M86 / M205 / PO85RD
And half way bottles of 16oz from: Ultimate Compound / Ultimate Polish / D300 / D301

You see... I have no shop and do 1 to 2 cars in a couple of months.... getting more 2 bottles would be just waste....
I'll try to sell most of my others polishes around here, it would really hurt me to have so much polishes going bad because of shelf life....

Yes, Toyota and Lexus. I havent done any Hondas or Nissans yet.

Do you have any show and shine post showing them in action ?!
I'm about to be sold on Polish II.

Try using ultimate compound by meguiars, the product is lighter cut than m205 if you need something lighter use swirl x

Now that's Cool!

I'd love if you could send me some more pictures from the work progress and 50/50 on this car...

Were you able to see the 3 attached in the thread? I only have about 5 total 50/50 pictures but quite a few before and after.

I guess you're mistaken it for Ultimate Polish...

Ultimate Compound is actually close to M105
Swirl X close to M86
Ultimate Polish close to M205

The thing about the consumer line is polishing oils..... they have tons of it, and I don't want any of it masking results..... but indeed... ultimate compound / ultimate polish are great products and leave an extremely nice gloss...
The first time ever I polished my car was with ultimate polish.... great results, great gloss and less pig tails than m205 but again, it could be because of Ultimate Polish masking it....

Yes I saw... pretty impressive, that's why I wanted to see more of it... :dblthumb2:
I guess Hyper Spray Polish is the spray version from Polish II, right ?
