I'm looking for something to clean and maintain my engine. This is basically a cruise night/show car so the engine never gets very dirty but inevitably, some oil and grease and fluids always seem to find their way to the engine block, power steering pump, intake manifold, fender wells etc etc. I'm looking for something to clean the metal (painted) parts of the engine. On the chrome I've been using VM and the hoses always 303 and those products work fine.
I was thinking of using diluted Purple Power. Will that work? If so, at what ratio. Is that too strong even diluted? How about Meg's APC? Is that effective on light grease and engine fluids? Again, at what ratio? I'd basically be spraying whatever is recommended on a MF and wiping the engine parts down. It wouldn't at all be a full fledged spray the engine and hose it off clean up job that's for sure...
Any other suggestions of products would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Meg's APC is is spray-and-wipe at 10:1, and that's the ratio I'd recommend as it's a solid cleaner even at 10:1. Just be sure you don't go much stronger than that unless you plan to rinse everything off afterwards.

Is Meg's APC available in anything less than a gallon???

The Purple Power is a good option because I can grab it at my local Wal Mart. Why a 4:1 ratio? Is it not as strong as Meg's APC?

ONR would work well too if it's only lightly dirty. Just a quick wipe and dry. Spray and agitate for the more severe spots.

I have had good luck with DP. Car looks great by the way, nice work.

There was a member on here that always showed great engine work. He used Purple Power 1:1. He would spray on and rinse off.
If you are showing your car/engine why not try a higher end degreaser like DP Engine Degreaser.
Careful with some OTC degreasers that will have a very adverse effect on some metals.

I'm ready to buy an "engine" degreaser also, like DP, but all I see is GALLON stuff........
I don't want to do the whole neighborhood......
where's just a "bottle" spray of a good degreaser on this site?
I can't find one...........

I usually use Megs APC+ to maintain the engine bay on my classics.

Meguiars APC, DP, ONR all are great recommendations, if you are wanting to do at the show for a quick clean up I would go with DP Waterless Aut Wash. But all are great suggestions.
