I am looking to buy basically a starter kit for detailing. I worked in a detail shop for about 6 years, but that was about 8 years. I'm probably going to purchase the Dewalt849 because that is the model I am comfortable with. My issue is that I need help choosing what glaze/polish I should use with each foam pad and what manufacturer to go with. The shop I worked in mainly used Car Brite products. There seem to be so many new items out there and its just a little confusing right now. Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Hello thirrsty1 and WELCOME to AG!

It sounds like your coming from a production detailing standpoint perhaps? It kinda depends on what your hoping to accomplish and if your doing your cars or starting a business. Is this stuff for you or are you starting a business? What kind of cars are you working on? What is your goal? Perfection or clean and shinny? If your going to go with the Dewalt, I would rec the 849XP, I tried it out the other day and its a nice machine. Def lighter and felt better in my hands than my d849.

I would suggest picking a company and sticking with it. I primarily use megs M105/M205. I don't like the LC pads, I prefer the Buff and Shine ones but sadly, AG doesn't carry them.

I would look at the LC Hydro tech pads.

This would be for me. No business. I just want to be able to do my friends and familys vehicles. As for clean and shiny or perfection. I would love to get perfection. Thanks for the feedback. It is much appreciated
