Removed badges and stickers last night. Badging is perfect. Stickers left a green glow. Take a look. How do I correct it?

i used a heat gun, 3M Eraser Wheel at 2,200 RPMs and then adhesive removal and wiped clean.

I'm wondering if the dye of the stickers and the glue somehow leached into the clearcoat???? I would say if something like a Meguiar's 105 or similar compound doesn't get it out, you're stuck with it.

That what my thought was. I feel like crap over it. It's a brand new truck...

I will check out the 105. I have a feeling it's clear coat injury only. In the shade or dark you can't see it.

maybe the eraser wheel did the damage.on a new truck can't see how the stickers or badges would bleed.paint thickness meter will tell all.

Can that happen? And if it did would you be able to see it against the black?

OP: do those marks correspond to where you used the Eraser wheel? What color is that paint? Is it metallic? What color is the flake?

Honestly to me it looks like you might have thinned out the clear in those spots. Why did you have to use the eraser wheel?

Those eraser wheels can inflict damage if you don't have the experience when to back off.2200 rpms is generating a lot of heat, along with a heat gun. Those stickers could of came off solely with a heat gun and patience.I would be sick as well.

Was it a Z71 or 4x4 decal installed from the factory?

I'm wondering if possibly the bed or that section of the bed was resprayed and then the decal was applied on the fresh (not factory) soft paint.

This (shouldn't) wouldn't be an issue with the factory paint because it's baked on, so the paint would be hard and cured when the decal was installed from the factory.

I would try a light polish first (always use the least aggressive approach first) followed by the compound (if the polish doesn't do the trick).

I've seen numerous threads over on other forums that talked about certain colors of plasti dip leaving stained paint after it was removed. Each of these threads that I've seen ultimately said that a few weeks later, the staining was gone. The general consensus was that the sun had done the job..

I don't know if this is a similar sort of effect, but I wouldn't be surprised if some time in the sun might not eliminate these 'green glow' spots.

Thank you for the professional opinions everyone. I lived and learned from my mistake...

The paint is GM OEM Oynx Black. I used the wheel because I thought it was the "proper" technique. I started with the tailgate GM gold emblem and the wheel did its job there and then went to the bed side Z71 stickers. I never noticed it last night since I was working in the garage at night. Pulled out this morning and holy crap! The door emblems and the tailgate have zero issues.

I have cleaned the surface with soap and water and a microfiber cloth. Then applied some polish to it this morning before the wife and I left for the beach. We arrived home and took another look at it and it seems SirTanon is on the right path. The sun seemed to correct the driver side already a tad. I left the passenger side alone.

My local auto detailer quoted me $195 to debadge and then another $100 to apply the new emblems. So, I choose to skip the $300 cost and do it myself. Hindsight I wish I would of shopped around and found another detailer to apply them. I could not see the job being more than $150-$200, but $300 was way too steep.

I am going to give it a week in the sun and see if it is correcting itself. The picture I posted was at an angle to make the green really stand out. It is hard to see it if you aren't looking at it.

Yikes, maybe hire an airbrush artist and turn it into a rendition of the aurora borealis :-p

my first though was that you burned through, but you would be able to see that under a bright light..

You lost me somewhere. You went through all that to debadge it, just to have new emblems put on? Why?

Just curious ,as a kid we would do the seaside summer getaway from ny.Have friends in holmdel nj.
