I have a guy from one of my forums who took his mustang in to be detailed. He says they sprayed Acrylic onto his engine and let it run and it staines his supercharger. any ideas on what was sprayed....and what he can do to fix this. Not sure if he has brought this problem to the deatilers attention, but Kenne Bell says it will take over $1000.00 for them to fix it as they would be replacing the case. Any ideas??

Thanks

I guess its time for the detailer to pay up?

I figure he should go after the guy for the cost but what the heck was the detailer using?? Those blowers are anadiozed...

has he tried to clean it up himself? They probably used some strong degreaser. Someones gonna owe alot of money to replace that supercharger!

I'm sure he tried to clean it up but the stains would not come out. I think i would have killed the guy.....the guy has had the blower on his car for only a few months too...

Actually if it gets hot enough you can peel it off. it will start to peel shortly. You can try acetone to remove it also.

Remove the stains or the the anodized?? I don't want to give this guy advice that will make it worse..

its not going to remove the anodized black, you asked for help, so that is what i would do if it happened to me. I just looked at my brothers KB and think you would be safe. Put it this way I would try it on his car. Plus it sounds like KB gave you a price on a rebuild.

Don't get me wrong, I appreicate you input and welcome whatever advice anyone has for me....I just wanted to be clear about what you wre saying would be removed that's all. Heck I told him that he might want to just get it polished. The price they game him was $699 for taking it apart and re-building plus $700 for a new case a total of $1399.

I would try anything from rubbing alcohol to mineral spirits. Maybe see if an AIO will do anything. Man, that sucks.

Somebody else awhile ago posted they got a car that under-hood was stained b/c the previous detailing sprayed an acrylic under there. What is this acrylic crap they are using?

Sonus makes an "acrylic wax" that is for black trim and engine compartments, not sure if that's what this is though.
