Need help...getting ready for new black car

Don't forget to save up for psychiatric bills...Black is awesome but unless you dial down perfect paint expectations, you could be wearing a straight jacket in the near future :xyxthumbs:

We are in the same boat. Spent most of my weekends with my 2 months old black Laramie CC with hard tonneau cover. I should have read this thread before I bought and used Griot's products (car wash, clay. one step sealant and best of show wax). I will bookmark these thread for future buys and applications.
 
I feel your pain I have a Black Mercedes and am beginning the Saturday Ritual at 6:30 AM to bring it up to my standards knowing full well I have rain coming 30 hours from now ! :)
 
You bought a black car(I have a black 328i)you have no idea what you gotten yourself into. It is a lot of work period

It is a lot of work (very rewarding work), but it can be perfected and is definitely worth it...As there is nothing that stands quite as tall as well maintained black. :dblthumb2:
 
So.....I finally took delivery of the car a week ago. The dealership followed my request to not wash or do anything to it. Only the hood got lightly swirled in transit, but the rest of the body has no swirls.
Unfortunately, it's been raining for a week, so I could only start the new car prep today (wash/dry/clay/PO85rd/WGDGS). I am waiting for the sealant to cure...pics tomorrow I guess.
 
OK, I finally can post a few pics.
The process used:
- wash: chenille mitt/DP Auto bath/DPRWG as a softner in rinse bucket/Guzzler
- wheels: I had cleaned them with Griots wheel cleaner 3 days prior, so they got some DP Autobath. Tires got P21S TAW with Mothers tire brush
- Clay: spot clayed (hood, a few other spots). Other panels weren't yielding anything on the clay
- polishing: lucky me, only the hood got swirls, all other panels were good. So I used 1z HGP / white pad then PO85rd / black pad for the hood and left the rest alone. The whole car could and will benefit from some jewelling but since we are still in winter, I did not see the point. the PO85rd will come back out in spring (on a white pad, the black pad is too soft for the CC)
- sealant: 2 coats of WG DGPS / MF applicator / Gold towel
- Tires: Eagle one tire shine
- Glass: DP Krystal with blue glass towel
- Rubber: 303
