Need help (info on wool pad)

I got a light polishing job tomorrow and don't have a light polishing pad.
I may have to go to the store and get what they have OTC. the clintcher... I have no experience with a woolpad (only otc available for light cutting or polishing)
So my question is with my rotary is there anything I need to know about wool pads b4 I use it? Or can I use it just like its a foam polishing pad?

All I have is a blue finishing pad, with no cutting action. (Used for applying sealer and wax)

Wool pads are generally very aggresive. I would not recommend you use one to tackle a light polishing job. However when using a rotary for HEAVY correction, theres no subsitute. Wool pads allow more air to circulate than foam pads, creating less heat on the body panel.

So again, defenitely do not recomend you use a wool pad for a light polishing job, you will need to follow up with yet another light polishing compound with a less aggresive pad, defeating the purpose.
 
Dang! OK so I'm back to the beginning. I have the right compound but only have a finishing pad..
What should I do?

I would do a test spot. If the paint is soft enough you could get nice results, but if you only have ONE finishing pad I would wait until I had the tools to do the best job possible.
 
Are there any Wal Marts in your area that may have started carrying pads? I don't know where you live but try Automotive paint supply if they don't have them they should be able to tell you where you can pick some up??

100% agree. I would tell you were to get your pads for your rotary & backing plate tonight, but I cant post it on here. Not wally world by the way.
 
We have a wall mart, Napa, car quest, orliey's, auto zone, and advanced auto
But no paint supply closest think would b a very tiny shirwen Williams.
And all I remember seeing at any of them was wool except one place had a black 3m finishing pad.
