I am a newby to polishing/buffing and i have been eyebaling a rupes 15es and the flex 3401. Need advice on them and witch one to chose. Thanks for the help eveyone!

I really want to stay with a small pad but i have no experience what so ever with a polisher/buffer but i am open to any suggestions.

Well you can always get a Porter Cable and see if you like the "Detailing" aspect of it. Then you can get a feel of using a machine and go from there.

I have the Rupes 21. I use 5.5" pads because I switched to the 5" backing plates.

I also can switch to the 6" backing plates whenever I want.

^ so that is also an option.

I'm sure I will like the detailing part. I just want one that I will be happy with.

If that's the case, go with the 21 and don't look back. If you need the smaller backing plate, order it down the road. Great buffer, great quality.

If you are new to polishing I would say the Rupes is easier to use

With that.. I would get the Rupes 21 and fit the 5" pad from the 15 onto it.

Future proof.

Thanks for the help!!!! Looks like a 21 for my x-mas gift!!

I just ordered the Rupes 15 and package. Good luck with your choice.

Both the Rupes polishers and the Flex are great tools...

If you're going with the Rupes polishers go with the Rupes pads and compounds and polishes.

Read through any of the write-ups I've done with this "system" here at Autogeek and each time the results are flawless....

I think this was the first time an entire car was buffed out using the Rupes Bigfoot polishers and documented and caught on video.
