Need help on pad/paste wax application. Also PC 7336sp vs 7424

I love applying waxes by hand, may be one of my favorite parts. It's only tiring if you let it be. Just be gentle on the paint and your wrists, no need to put a lot of pressure on your hand when waxing.

Id go by hand or get a harder paste wax and just rub alittle on the pad.

No, it should not make any difference which QD you use. Just remember that you are not trying to soak it. If you start applying wax, no pressure, and it comes out wet you have to much QD. You want the wax not diluted, the QD is just an absorbtion barrier behind it in the pad and it prevents dry buffing.
For the 3M stuff you need to get Master Toto to answer. He uses some of their stuff at the shop he details in. Mostly rotary used, I believe.

How about just a water spritz???

Don't know for sure, have not tried it at that stage in a detail. IMO water is an abrasive and I would rather have the chemicals in the QD in the pad when the wax runs out.

Crystal Mist woould work as a pre-wet on the pad?

Not sure:confused: but a QDer would be cheaper....if not just plain water.......

Isn't Crystal Mist a QDer? Uh-oh, I better go check what I bought.

Its to be used between waxing to keep the carnuba looking nice....in all sense it is a QDer...only more, and not cheap, thats why there are others out there cheaper for your purpose.........

I always apply paste wax by hand and foam applicator. I dampen the pad with a QD to help stop the absorbtion of wax into the pad.

Just remember:
DO NOT apply in a circular motion. The only pastes that you can get away with this is Max Wax and Souveran. They do not contain any abrasives.

Why not in circle?
One word....
Swirls.

Apply it as the air would flow over the vehicle. Front to back.

I would only use it to rejuvenate any wax you have on the car. Basically I'd only use it on the car after washings.

i agree......;)

With a PC, should it be really easy to stop the pad from spinning with pressure?
I'm wondering if the PC I'm using it working correctly.

Hi all,
I got my order today with the 4" LC pads, XMT pad lube and #1 & #3 polish. Some PoBoys sealer and Natty's Blue as well. Full weekend coming up!

Question on the pads and the XMT:
I've noticed here several folks saying they go straight from #3 to #1 polish. Others that you HAVE TO take every step up the polish chain. I'm planning on starting with #3 on the lite green pad if needed go to the orange. then finish with the #1 on the white pad.
Make sense?

Also, on the PoBoys sealer, will I get any benefit from waiting longer that 3 hours between coats? And will the nattys blue like multiple coats?

And, since I've never clayed this car, guess I just plain better?

Has anyone had any experience with the Dr. Colorchip repair system? Good/Bad? I have moderate road rash on the hood and bumper.

Peace,

Tam (I'll do a signature thing soon :-))
