How could someone own that thing and not drive it! Id be driving it atleast as a weekend car. Buy it! lol

A little rough and not original. The scoop and hood are not original along with the wheels and paint, and the center console has been hacked. Paint is obviously not right. Google and you'll find that 68 vette came with either a 327/350 hp or 427 around 400 hp. That looks like a 327; the 427 is a monster. I would walk away, that's a lot of money for a poor condition car. It'll cost a ton to re-do. As is, it's maybe an 8K car. Google and you can find decent "numbers match" 68 t-tops for 14 - 18K.

$12 not $12,000...at least that's what I hope you meant. A low mileage '68 without all the hokey stuff, numbers matching, somewhat collectible Corvette would MAYBE get $12,000.

Offer $6 and be happy to walk away.

Hmmm, I'm not sure how to begin but lets have a go at it.

I took a close look at the photos and to me it looks like a small block 327 or 350. If the motor has been swapped it could also me a 307. I'm not exactly sure when Chevy made the switch but it's not a big block, you can tell just looking at the valve covers.

I also see what appears to be a stock intake manifold and a Rochester 4 BBL carb. with a fake blower air intake.

The exhaust manifolds have been replaced by after market headers.

I see nothing else that would give me the impression that this engine is putting out any more than 300hp - 325hp tops.

The owner is BS-ing you and could possible be my brother-in-law..

It took allot of work to achieve 530hp back in those days, trust me on that one, I got my drivers license in 1968 and was heavily into cars and racing up through the late 70's.

It's amazing what people with do to a Corvette and this Corvette is really trashed in my opinion. I'm not implying that this car can't be restored but to do it right it will take some serious investment in both time and expense.

The plus side; 1968 was the first year for this body style and "could" be worth a full restoration if everything on the car was original and matching, numbers, drive-train, etc...

The choice is ultimately yours but be forewarned you'll have your work cut out for you......$4000.00 TOPS..

Offer him 6 maybe go up to 8 depending on how bad u want it. just don't let how bad u want the car cloud your judgement. The car isn't in great shape and is a true redneck rocket. Ive seen ones in better shape go for way less. That car is by no means original the cost to repaint that thing alone is prob gonna be around 3k for a paint job that car deserves that is unless u like the paint job but anyone that likes that paint job is probaly married to their sister

I would be checking those numbers on that engine before making a offer! That as been updated and from what i can see thats a small block maybe a 327 probably not.

it has HEI Ignition and a pcv valve these were not introduced untill 1973.
the alternator is a internal regulator 68 had external reg.

327 chevy had a filler tube in thr front not on valve cover.

that appers to be a 2barrel carb from what i can see so the hp he claiming is imposible with a 2brl.

just a few things I noticed Good luck!

I doubt this Corvette does have one of only 80 of the L88s (427-560hp) produced in 1968--they usually went to someone that owned a racing enterprise--Zora intended these for racing! But, stranger things have happened.

I suggest: Go to ProTeam website for an idea what some of the 1968s are worth in differring states of condition.

Don't forget the flares on the wheelwells. There've been significant changes to the body, which would be very expensive to remove and restore to original condition, if that's the poster's desires.

Seats and steering wheel are not stock, either.

I'd run, not walk away from that thing.

Of course, if you were looking to recreate some of the aberrations of the 1970's, it'd be a great start.

CORVETTE GT-3055 - PIK.ba

Is this going viral? I know I get the heebeegeebees just looking at it :)

An addendum to my previous posting: I must have lived a secluded life, but I don't remember such a vehicle---a GT 3055 Corvette! If I'm wrong, please advise.

That thing is a giant pile of monkey crap

Do yourself a hugh favor and look for an all original model
