Need help with a detail...Baked on layer of tar all over car....only coming out when I compound

Hi All

Doing a detail on a 2006 Pearl White Nissan 350z. The car was covered in a lot of tar/ road grime all over. Not sure where the owner parked it but it was really bad. I did tar spot treatements everything I saw tar with degreaser and tarminator. I then washed, decontaminated with iron x and clayed the entire car. Took me a good many hours to prep the car for its paint correction. I thought I had it ready truly. The paint felt pretty clean after the decon. Taped everything up. Started doing test spots and when i got to the polish pad combo, HD Adapt with BnS Microfiber cutting pad I noticed that little black flecks, a lot of them started, coming out every where I was correcting the paint on the hood. I can only assume that it is caked on tar? In some areas it even went back into the paint...ahhhh....
As I started looking even closer its in areas all over the car but its extremely light and only when I compound does it start coming out. Gunked up my MF pads too...

I tried using Degreaser, Tarminator, APC, everything I had to remove it. Nothing seems to be working. Short of dousing the car in it for an hour I dont know what to do lol.

Can anyone suggest what else I can do to remove? I am stumped and feeling defeated.

I would do a decon wash treatment first. The FK one I believe would reduce tar as one of their mixtures is kinda like kerosene lol. Seriously.
 
There are some timid forum members,and many will disagree.If I was faced with a promblem like that and if it was truly a tar promblem,lacquer thinner on a micro will may your promblem quick and painless as far as removal.make sure it's tar,and no thinner on glass or plastic headlights or taillights and rubber body trim pieces.That would be my take on this good luck.
 
I'd go with thinner too if nothin else worked. Jus be careful

Lol I am trying to a decent picture to show it but can't using my cell phone so it is a bit difficult.

It is like this but a bit a lighter brown.

Thank you! I would be one of those members lol. I my go pick up some lacquer thinner and try it on inconspicuous test spot.

All you need is some mineral spirits, or if you can get your hands on some auto finesse oblitarate

This. I bought TRIX but will likely just use Mineral Spirits in the future. I still enjoy IronX though.
 
So trying the mineral spirits today before I receive the FK etc.
Is there a best way to use it? Just throw in on a rag and rub it in the affected areas? or is it safe to leave it on the areas to help dissolve any tar/ adhesives for a length of time.

I know this after you have done the job, but gasoline will dissolve tar on contact. It might also put some marring in the paint if left to sit too long. What I did it on was 15 year old doors on the under side. Don't know how long was on car, but the gas removed it. I hand compounded and waxed and stuck a fork it it.
