Hey guys so I'm trying to polish some wheels I have and need some help. They are clear coated/painted wheels, that are Mercedes Benz accessories wheels (so maybe cermaic clear coat?). Anyways, I got them from my friend in this shape and now that I have them off the car, I want to fix this.

As you can see in this first picture, the look pretty good with no direct light source.

However, once I put the swirl finder light on them, they seem to have some terrible swirls, hazing, and water spots.

I was able to use my G110 v2 to try and polish the spokes. That got rid of the water spots but left some minor swirls. View attachment 25095

Sorry for this being so long, but I'd really like these to look the best they can. I've listed some things I have on hand but I am willing to spend a little bit. Would something like a powerball or Meg's fun scone work on this assuming I use a compound or polish for paint?

Tools on hand:
G110v2
Meg's MF system
M105/M205
UC/UP
Meg's Foam Pads (4 inch and 7 inch)

Nice job pulling the water spotting and swirls out. Have you tried using some M205 and either a polishing of finishing pad to clear it up?

I have tried it and have had some success but what I'm struggling with is not being able to fit the DA between the spokes for those really bad areas. And I can't seem to make a dent in it by hand.

Alright thanks guys, I'm definitely considering that option. Any advice on picking something like the Meguiar's dynacone vs Mothers PowerBall, would one work better than the other for this situation?

Update:

Ended up buying a Meguiar's Dynacone kit to polish these out. I know they say not to use it on painted wheels but I decided to try it anyways using paint polishes not metal polish. I ended up getting away with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound for most of it and M105 for really tough spots. Overall I'm really happy with how they look, some spots are way to bad to fix even 3000 grit sanding did nothing. Not gonna mess with it too much though since I don't want to thin out the clear coat too much.

Here's some pics of the finished product, still some slight haze and light stains but much, much better.

Here's a pic of a polished wheel vs. non polished wheel.

Finished wheels look real good.

Glad you didn't use the metal polish on the clear-coat paint.
