Need new Tire ideas with specs.

I just got 4 Yokohama Avid Envigors, a wheel alignment and high speed balance on my Crown Vic yesterday. I like them so far. Had Goodyear Eagle RSA's and hated them.

I had goodyear triple treads on my Impala and loved them. Whatever tires you go with make sure you get an alignment and balance. Go on tirerack and other tire websites and read the reviews.

Yep...the RSA is a POS. I mentioned Yokohamas. One of my favorite tires to sell. Great quality...great value. The Michelins will last longer. So much of getting the right tire is having a qualified salesman that will know what tires work well on the vehicle (tires perform differently on different cars). The salesman should find how you drive the car, where you drive the car, and what you want the tire to do...for example is a soft quiet ride a priority, or quicker steering response and better cornering stability.
Don't mean to ramble...28 years in the business and loved what I did. Forced to retire because of my back and I really miss it.

The thing is, is that I put the spare on when one went out and I think I bought the mxv4 from michelin. So I think I will just put 4 more on with town fair and then get new alignment and try to get better fuel economy. Right now it says 11, I will try and see what is wrong. I mostly bet that all the littel cracks and crevices in the tire are letting out a Hugggeeeee amount of air. I will also try and see if internals are wrong such as clogged sections or dirty pieces.

11 mpg !! with my 2003 A6 avg 22.4, with my 2008 A6 avg 24.5. At constant 65 mph 30+mpg. You should be able to much better.

Use some techron for cleaning injectors, make sure filters are clean, set tire pressure correctly(invest in a good tire pressure gauge). As i remember there was a problem with bad spark plug coils breaking down.
Currently I run Conti DWS

Call Tirerack. The are the best and will give you options. Its prices are super.

If the spark coils are bad it definitely effects fuel mileage. Had a bad one on my daughters Corolla and it took about 33% off the mileage.

Sorry I have to disagree with you on this one. Most of Discount Tire Direct employees came out of their stores. So while Tire Rack does testing on new tires these guys have seen the tires from start to finish on a variety of cars. This is just my opinion....of course I did spend years with Discount Tire.
Let me give you an example...if Tire Rack would have tested a Michelin Symetry on a Toyota Camry (this goes back a few years) it would have had great reviews from them...traction, ride, etc. so they would recommend it. But the guy that had worked in the store would know that while that tire is good for 50,000+ on most cars...you would be lucky to get 20,000 on that car.

I agree with Dave on this. Its mostly about money these days, Audi wanted to try and screw me out of 2,000 dollars by trying to change my timing belt 2 times in one year. Many service employees are getting greedy by using their own knowledge to their advantage

How would I use something like a fuel injector or cleaner ?

In the case of "fix in a bottle", just pour it into the gas tank.. No more than 3 times a year.

The ideal is to remove the injectors and clean it manually, one by one... But that's A LOT of work.

Someone else mentioned Hankook tires on here. I bought the Hankook Optimo H727. They are great. Low road noise and great handling. They also look good. Got them from discount tire direct. I have a set of cooper CS4's on my car and like them a lot as well. Can't go wrong with either one.

I have the Hankooks on my wifes car, and they are very good. Very quiet, great handling, speed rated, and last very well. Or at least they have been on our car, they look great dressed out also. :xyxthumbs:

Discount Tire Direct :props:

What would be a good tire dressing to use, that I could buy from otc. I want something that has equally good shine and durability. I have been using meguiars nxt, it does not last, but the shine is crazy

Check out my review of black magic tire wet wheel wax in the product review section.

OTC Armor All Tire Gel in the squeeze bottle, actually a very good product, bought a bottle about 3 weeks ago and did wifes tires and it is lasting very well so far.

I actually do not like any of the amorall products. I feel they fit into the catagory of being cheap and odd like turtle wax. I use meguiars and heard great things about the endurance gel and the hotshine tire spray

Ok, no problem. Just trying to offer up an OTC that I know works well.

OP, what tires are you leaning towards? Now as far as tirerack and their prices go, well, factor in the install and how easy is to actually get a tire replaced when they don't have an actual store to go back to, Discount Tire does, usually all over the place but they're not in every state, them or their sister company America's Tire.

I have 28 years with the largest independent tire dealer in the country. It depends mostly on what you want out of the tire...how you drive the car...road conditions...how long you plan on keeping it. The Primacy MXV4 is an excellent tire. Yokohama is also an excellent tire. Handling, ride quality, traction are pretty similar to the Michelins they don't last quite as long but usually save you quite a bit of money.

I realize that these are dfferent than the Pilot HxM4's, but how so? Even Michelin's website doesn't shed too much light on the subject.

FWIW...I have the Pilot MxM4's on a 2008 Honda Accord and I keep coming back to them. They were the OEM tires for this car, and they're $$$, but the handle and ride well and I get every bit of 60,000 miles out of them, and I'm not exactly driving round Miss Daisy. I've heard some complain of noise issues, but I don't seem to notice it or at least I don't mind at all.

Michelin's are great tires, had X-One's back in the day on our one work van, GMC Safari, that got lots of highway miles on it and they went 100k (with proper rotations and alignments) but IMO, the Conti DWS will make you a believer and not cost as much as the Michelin's do. If those aren't to your liking, check out the new Yoke's, YK580's, another great choice:xyxthumbs:
